I don't mind it, though I made sure to educate the wife on understanding how it works and that she needed to 100% attention to it when putting it in gear. I love my WK2 the amount of customization I have done to it matches that of the KJ. The front end is getting leveled over Labor Day.

Which set-up are you going with?

I am leaning toward getting Eibach's "All-Terrain" leveling kit. At 75k, the OEM shocks are probably sagging more than I realize

Well I couldn't get in but I have the Rough Country 2" leveling kit for the front end. So more than likely on Vacation unless there is the scary chance I am getting my Mondays back to put it in. Same time though I found a steal of a deal on 20" wheels and tires off a Durango that I'm tempted to bite the bullet on and get then wait to do the leveling kit. Since for some reason having bought the leveling kit my Front end has mysteriously raised itself back up isn't sagging like hell when I first bought it. Not wondering if some of the rough rocking I've been doing leaving the apt has had a hand in it. Here's a rough idea of what the leveling kit would look like installed on the front.

Black River State forest.
Go to Millston, and take Cty O north, then left on Old Settlement Rd. About a half mile there will be a left turn onto Stanton Creek Rd. Another half mile and a diagonal left onto a sandy track- Cut Off Rd. (a bit past the OHV trail crossing.)
A couple hundred yards and you'll find that hole.:gr_grin:


There are a handful of run tracks still open in that area between BRF, Warrens, and Hatfiled.

I'm trying to "create" some free time in October to run the southern part of my revised Overland version Trans. WI Adv. Trail. Galena, IL to Hatfield, WI.

Finally went out and found the trail today! Awesome directions, it was easy to find. We ended up taking Cutoff Rd to the end and then going left, found a couple more good trails off of it (being careful to avoid the ATV ones!). Kept going on left after Cutoff and eventually found another trail on the left a mile or two down, had some real deep sand on it but it was a blast. That one was called "Castle Mound Road".

@HoosierJeeper - Nice! Yeah, there are a lot of little trails up in that area, all the way over to Warrens. Years ago, it was possible to get from Sparta to Hatfield without touching much Tarmac- But many of the trails have been gated or bermed, and others have become really overgrown and narrow.
I've spent many days of my youth in that areaW we used to camp almost every other weekend at Pigeon Creek when I was a kid; and in my teens we hiked, off-roaded, fished, hunted and rough camped that region quite a bit.

Did you stop at Lake Wazee? It's an old mine just off Castle Rock Rd.


@Birdman330 -That'll look good with some new wheels and tires too. I'm waiting to see what the Black Friday deals are on the Eibach Kit.

I did park next to a '11-'13 GC last weekend that had a lift, looked to be a spacer lift about 2" (I'm guessing RRO) It also have 20" wheels and looked good, except for the street tires

I'm waiting on shipping cost on a replacement lower front bumper cover. It's matching silver, Grade A condition for $175.

Also ordered some brighter LED reverse lights and the Eibach leveling kit should be here monday!It was on sale for 15% off, i couldn't talk myself out of it

WK2 saga just keeps on keeping on.

So, few months ago, I took it to the local Jeep dealer to troubleshoot the "service 4wd" codes. They did an update on the controller. They wanted $600 just to check into it more than that so I took it to another independent shop who simply sent me to the transmission shop they would have taken it to.
The trans shop drained the fluid and said it looked OK. They measured the tire tread and said it was different enough to possibly cause the intermittent code. So he didn't want to perform and warranty a transfer case rebuild.
Just got a second opinion from another local transmission shop and they agreed with the first.

So now, I get to spend money just hoping that the tires are the problem... I can get a "4 for price of 3" deal right now on Toyo Open Country AT3s for $650 installed.
If that fixes my problem, it's half the cost of a TC rebuild. If not, it's $650 I didn't need to spend.

Though I would not be surprised to hear otherwise, if you do plan to keep it long term and the new tires don't solve the problem, can you keep the old ones and put them on there once the new ones have worn out? (Or just sell them, if they have a decent amount of tread left?)

Can you change the software to make it less fussy? Or try rotating the tires?

I had an '81 Subaru that loudly kicked out of 4wd when I got it. Three different sized tires caused that.

A friend has a rebuilt Honda Pilot that pounds out of 4wd the same way unless it's super slick. Different ratios, front and rear. Donor car was a year newer with bigger wheels.

Yeah, saving the tires would be an option. But I don't really have the space in the garage so I'll likely just try to sell them.

If I put the select-terrain into SPORT mode the fault never pops up. SPORT mode shuts off the ESC and gives the drivetrain a rear bias, (This is one of the things that made the transmission guy lean towards it being a tire issue.)
I just need to get it sorted before winter snow arrives. In addition, the 4 for 3 deals are ending next week.

I think those are the tough choicest vehicle owners have to make. Even regular maintenance adds up to a lot, then typical repairs add on to that. Then you get into the position where you need to decide if another $800 to $1,500 is worth it, or if you just write it off as a loss.
