Howzit fam!

Coming over from the Dodge Nitro group. Wasn’t much help there, so thought I’d try the KK brethren.

I’m adding an external transmission cooler in front of the condenser, and need some help if anyone has some insight. I mainly need to find the outlet tube/pipe from the condenser/cooler to route it to the external cooler and back to the trans.

So the reason I need another cooler is because I have a front steel bumper, roof rack / steel side rails, and I run 33” tires. The load is straining the transmission and causing it to overheat even during the cold winter over here in Vegas.

so with research I’ve done, I can see facing the condenser, that there are 2 cooler lines at the top right hand corner of the condenser. I assumed one of them were an inlet and would be hot, but they’re both same temp. So I’m stumped and lost on why there would be 2 outlets going back to the transmission.

But… the bypass is on that side as well for both pipes, so wouldn’t that be the side where transmission fluid is release into the system and goes back into the transmission?

Please help a Brutha out! I just need to find the outlet, so I can get this cooler set up.

thanks Fam

This is the ports on the gearbox, follow the lines to the cooler.

I've been through the manual and typically it doesn't have a drawing for the 42RLE

Yah the problem with this layout is the nitro and KK have that AC condenser that the top 1/3 of the condenser is the cooler. The transmission lines I believe are the ones at the top right hand side. But it doesn’t give out which pipe is the inlet or outlet. I took temp of both to see which would be out inlet side (that’ll be hotter) but they’re both the same exact temp and are cool to the touch. Trying to avoid removing the pipes and seeing which squirts out first because of a mess I don’t want to have to clean up after lol.

The drawing shows flow from the lower port on the gearbox, needs more Google searching to confirm.

Any pictures of your Nitro? They are rare here and I've never seen a lifted one.
