Found your rumble cause! LOLAlso while doing this I found that the rear joint is seized in one of the movement directions.

U joints came with new clips so I'm just whacking away.
1 down...7 to go.
a press works better ... and you don't risk damaging the yoke. (no clips but the outer)
you can borrow the kits for free from your local auto parts joint.
Do you have a ball joint press? I've modded one of these to do this. Like CactusJacked said A vise is the only other way I've ever done Ujs.
Ziptied mine and stayed put.Used a high quality 175lbs test ziptie, not a cheap one bought at auto zone or wallmart. So she's ALMOST all put back together. I took her for a test drive because I couldn't resist.
Finaly question: How's everyone keeping their drive shaft boot on? I tried zip ties but the thing wont stay into place. I'm thinking a hose clamp will work...but I have yet to find a hose clamp narrow enough to fit on the boot.I also noticed it looks like there USED to be another clamp on my boot (towards the back end) but it's gone?? I assume that is how that side of the boot is supposed to stay on?
Was the issue the U joint? I have the exact same issue. So she's ALMOST all put back together. I took her for a test drive because I couldn't resist.
