Magnaflow cats don't fit so good.

Left side hits front drive shaft... Ground down excess metal on cat to clear, almost but not quite. I had to leave my Jeep at my friends house, going back today to rework it. I thought that maybe it was for 2WD only but Magnaflow's website shows 2 part numbers with no distinction for 2WD or 4WD, just that the more expensive one (the one I did not buy) has OEM style cats.

A plus - the Walker SoundFX muffler sounds better with good cats. A little on the quiet side but nice. When I get it all sorted out I will post a video.

Direct fit cat's cost more and OEM cats(ones bought from the dealership only) are the highest flowing and still actually work.All aftermarket cat's are not 50 state legal for a reason.

I though a Magnaflow part would be a good one. I did not see any reviews for it. An "Eastern" catalytic converter would have been the cheapest, I did see a bad review for that.

Cats are on, fresh oil & plugs, at the moment it is running good & CEL free.

I bought and installed a pair of Walker cats from RockAuto and they fit perfectly - mated right up with the Y-pipe and plenty of clearance. Matter of fact I changed the rear CV on the front driveshaft and had room to easily drop the drive shaft without banging up against the cat.

Keep us posted on how the Magnaflow system works.

OEM is the only ones that work right, been through the other way and would of had to get the exhaust changed just to fit the skids back on. Hunks of junk!

Back in the day, if you bought headers for a muscle car, they almost never fit. This reminded me of that.

My OEM piece was one piece, I would have had to buy all 3 pieces of the Walker set up and I wondered if it would work on a 2006.

One other note it is illegal to remove a working cat from a vehicle while it's still in the 8 year/80,000 mile federal warranty,just some more fun facts.

Probably a big fine too. While doing new car prep at a dealership in the late 70s, I (allegedly) broke a few seals and caps trying to get emissions motors to drive decent. The guy that trained me did it systematically. (Allegedly.) I got caught once (alleged warranty problem) and had my ass chewed out (for real) and was reminded of the $10,000 fine but nothing else happened. I quit on my own a couple of years later.

Mine were at 122K, right one feels nearly empty, and the left one was rattling. The muffler was rattling too but I am sure that is the right converter debris. I wonder if any made it out of the tail pipe? (LOL!)

06 liberty. I have added Magnaflow catback system 15870 to my parts list. i am also looking at JET performance chips, have read some mixed reviews. I have already installed a K&N Air filter into my ride, as well as four prong platinum sparks. There are other modifications and parts i have thought about replacing such as a throttle body spacer or more drastically mandril headers. along with all these thoughts i had solved a rock and bug problem with my radiator for the tune of 10 bucks from the hardware store.

All those things you listed will do ecactly zero for performance or mpg's in your KJ.The only thing those things did do is make you spend $$$ on false advertizing.The biggest offender is those Bosch +4 platinum plugs and then the K&N air filter.

The Magnaflow doesn't fit 4WD and will leave your CEL on. (P0420 & P0430) It's the shiniest, best looking P.O.S. I have ever worked with. I see other posters had success with Walkers... But I am going with OEM before my next emissions check.

Ditto on the the spark plugs, the multiple electrodes promote detonation, not good. The other mods are like pet food marketing. They make you feel good but your pet (Jeep) doesn't know the difference.

Another emissions test, another set of catalytic converters. I rode around with the bad Magnaflows for almost 2 years. I found a shop I like and they installed OEM style parts and all is good & CEL free these days. The Walker SoundFX muffler is 2 years old now and still rather mild. Here's a video. I have a Magnaflow Direct-Fit Catalytic Converter that's been sitting around in my garage for 3 years, still brand new in box. If anyones interested in it just hit me up, it's just taking up space in my garage now that i don't have a Liberty anymore.
