Manual hubs?

I've been somewhat disappointed with the gas mileage I'm getting on my Liberty. I'm trying to figure out if there would be enough of a gain in mileage to justify putting manual hubs on. Do any of you have manual hubs? Could you notice any difference in mpg?

manual hubs would have to be custom made for the KJ.... and even if you were able to get them, it would take well over 100,000 to recoup the cost

Like already stated there are no manual hubs for a KJ,anyways you would not see any better mpg's anyway.I drove for over a year with no front driveshaft,front diff,or front CV's and gained zero increase in the mpg area.You may see as much as .2 increase in mpg's(and that is pushing it) which would not offset the cost of having a custom setup made for the KJ(would top well over $10,000+).The KJ is a brick,and a Jeep so don't expect great mpg's.If you want mpg's get a honda crossover(not a true 4wd,it's FWD with rear wheel assist),if you want a very capible 4wd vehicle(which is a true 4wd) that takes some abuse get a Jeep.

You are driving a 2-ton+ brick. It isn't like it's aerodynamic at all. The Rear wheel drives get slightly better mileage because they don't have the weight, but, that's probably like a 500lb difference? You lose about one MPG per 200lbs of weight. The engine is a 4.7 V8 block, with six cylinders, so if I were to guess? The the curb weight is a tad heavier than the V8 because there is more metal there, in place of those two cylinders. Manual Hubs won't help with gas mileage. 16MPg seems to be the deal, it costs me about $30.00 a week, JUST for 200 miles to work and back a week.
