When did Honda make a sports car?:D The 3.7L is not a big block. A Chevy 454 V8 is a Big Block. Hitting close to redline is the same in basically every car. Once in a while is good for the engine, at least not very harmful. All day everyday is a shortcut to a new motor.
Funny guy, I have a Honda S 2000, 2002 year and "Rio Red".
240 horse and redlines at 8500 RPM.
So going from that to a Jeep has been interesting to say the least.
I have a Honda Prelude as well. 1990 that is now my kids.
But I gotta tell you that the Jeep has been awesome. I love the ride and enjoy the vehicle. Very different engine though.

And you would be correct, somewhat. :p It's Jaguar. :D

Haha...good catch. :)

BTW, I rarely ever accelerate mine past 3000 rpms. I usually like to keep it at 2500, or if I feeling "grandma-like" I keep it at 2000, usually get pretty good mileage like that. But of course I'm not carry 1/2 ton of gear in the back of mine like TJKJ is. :D

Cruising on the HWY at 70mph its at 2400

No... The redline is 5,600 , maybe incorrect but I'm thinking you're hitting the computer rev limiter.... Which I can't see the purpose of because it's well out of peak torque and horsepower so I'm betting it wasn't pulling as hard as you thought it would..

Yea, it redlines are 5,600 for sure and mine has NEVER been over that.

Cant believe the 45rfe hits 2400 at 70mph. My 42rle hits 2500 at 80mph but I would rather it have higher rpms so it wouldnt need to down shift on the hills so much.

The 42RLE has a higher overdrive then the 45RFE,but the 45RFE has a lower 1st and reverse.

My KJ with the 45RFE is turning about 2700rpm at 80mph,but I also have 4.10's and not the stock 3.73's.
