Most evil thing you have done/tradeded in to the stealership.

Reading through the posts here and have noticed many many conversations about what the stealerships have done to us.
So what about what we have done to them?

03 PT Cruiser
70something thousand miles
when i traded it in it needed:
  • Tires all the way around
  • brakes all the way around (pads, hardware, drums, rotors)
  • front wheel bearings
  • front lower bushings
  • and the power steering pump was on the way out
I got over bluebook.

I gave less than what they wanted for the Jeep.

Another of my topics that probably shouldnt be.

I'll keep the story short...I am 20 years old, just bought my first with with under 100k miles on it. it's 2001, and I got a '99 Grand Prix GT with 34k on it.

Had some minor issues that I wanted fixed under warranty. Long story short, dealer lied about the status of the repairs, which left me sitting in the stealership on a Fri after work until like 5:30 (sat there for 2 hours). Had just started dating my wife at the time, and was supposed to be picking her up at like 6:30 or 7.

Finally they admit (after I sat there 2 hours) that my car was STUCK ON THE EFFIN' HOIST! And, nobody would be out to fix the hoist until Monday. Hey, stuff happens, no complaints about it breaking. My complaint was that I sat there for 2 hours while they made up stories about how far along the car was in repair (oil change just finished, etc).

I demand a rental...I get denied because I am 20 (it's Dec and my 21st B-day is in Feb). I protest...getting louder and more obscene as they continue to refuse. Finally I am to the threshold of really yelling and they back down. I get a 4 door POS Alero 4 cylinder.

Drove the PISS out of it all weekend. No need to use brakes at a stop light, just jam it in first, and when you're close enough lock up the e-brake. Oh, pulling into a parking spot? Cool, slam it into park at 15 mph. I'll tell ya GM makes some good parking prawls. Oh, the engine held up at redline (1st gear) really well for being run for a few miles too. :D laugh.gif Car made it back in there in one piece. Not sure how much longer it ran for.

No Jeep involved...yet.

Back in 1980 I traded in a 1975 4WD Scout, all heavy duty, 4 speed, 2 speed T-Case, alt, battery, cooling, axles etc. I had fitted a Warn 8000 lb. winch on the front, w/tires, rims. Problem, it would not stay running, it would just die with no symptoms. It may or may not start back up or not. I replaced everything imaginable, still no permanent go. Back then it was only a 1 year, 12,000 mile warrantee on anything, and of course the issue did not show up until the Scout was about 2 1/2 years old. Long story short, about three months after I traded it, I heard the guy that bought it (a land surveyor) wanted to know who my mechanic was as he was having the same problem. I felt sorry for him, because I knew it would leave him stranded when he most needed it. I walked home many a night or day, leaving the Scout along side the road with a note for the PO-PO. Next day it would usually start. The day on the way to the dealer for trade-in, it died. Luckily my wife was with me, (yes, she crapped her pants), but that one time for the first time it started back up while I was fiddling with the carb and she was turining the key. Down the road, I got back into 4WD.
