Well today I finally got around to changing out the hub assembly.

What do you get when you get a piece of pipe and a 2 foot breaker bar?

The passenger side is the side that is bad the driver's side was good. Oh well best that I'm changing both now

I figured that much out. When I read it through the first time it sounded like you crawled under the Jeep and had a bout of Sudden Onset Dyslexia and forgot which side was which. :anitoof:

Never having done this myself, is it one of those deals where you can't tell beforehand?

I couldn't really tell which side it was on but now that it's getting worse I can clearly tell it's from the passenger side. I guess it's really just better to replace them both since they both go around the same time anyway.

If you only want to replace the one you can jack up a wheel grab it at 12 and 6 and shake it if theres any play than it's bad and if you spin it and hear a grinding sound that's also a telltale sign. Now with mine it didn't do any of that but it still very obvious it's bad when you drive it.

I treat wheel bearings like shocks. Always replace them in pairs. By the way, if you were hitting the rotor because it was rusted onto the hub, you can just give it a couple smacks on the face between the studs and that will free it up.. Easier than putting the lug nuts back on to hit it from the back. Better also if you plan on reusing the rotor.

After having the lift on for a couple thousand miles I figured I'd report on how the ride has been. With the 790's and bilstein's up front it's got a nice and firm controlled ride which I really like (no extra weight up front). The rear is a bit soft but that's due to using older skyjacker springs (I got a used lift) and Rancho oil shocks instead of a gas shock. So basically I have two different ride qualities on my rig. I can tell you right now I like how the front rides more than the back but both ride a hell of a lot better than stock!
