Can someone please guide me as to where the heck the motor mounts are on an 03 KJ.. I’ve searched everywhere and no clear answers. Also would a broken motor mount cause a clanking noise in the rear at acceleration. Thanks in advance

if it is coming from the rear, it is usually the Upper Control arm in the back - attaches from the body to the top of the punkin.

might also be the lower control arms. Those were recalled on kj's. Yours may or may not have been done. Need to call dealer with vin to confirm. i think you can also search open recalls on car fax or edmunds.

Clunk on acceleration can also be a bad driveshaft u-Joint, typically the joint right at the rear differential.

Sounds better. So how would I know if it’s too far gone? Will I see the grooves and teeth worn?
If its anywhere near as bad as mine was, crawl under the Jeep, grab the rear drive shaft and try to rotate it (With the jeep in park, all wheels on the ground) If it clunks over or has any movement, the U-joint is bad.
