Hi all,

Need some clarification on the LBJ.
I noticed that the passenger side LBJ had grease coming out.

1.Anything I can do temporarily until it can be replace?

2. I've been seeing forum posts regarding lifetime LBJ warranty with the recall. Can someone please clarify whether this is true?

3. Looks like SK3199 Moog are the ones to use.
I noticed on rockauto that there was a SBK3199 Moog. Is there a difference?

Thanks.

Grease coming out means you've got a ruptured seal (usually caused by overlubrication). Nothing to get your ******* all in a wad over. Just drive/use as normal until time/money/opportunity to replace presents itself.

Doesn't quite sound right if there's a lifetime warranty due to the recall.
Has anyone done it before?

i guess I could always call the dealership.

My rig had the recall performed, and they were trashed when I replaced with the Moog. I'd skip trying to get them replaced under the recall, and just buy the Moog

Parts replacement on safety recalls are covered for the life of the vehicle, until that recall repair is performed. I haven't heard of any lifetime warranty on the replacement part.

All ball joints use one of two sealing methods. One is banded to the metal on both ends to make it fully sealed. The other is simply a mushroom style sheath to keep debris and water out that uses excess grease to assist in sealing the internal working surfaces.

Either type, if you have a TON of grease coming out, you're either using too thin a lubricant, or wwaayyyy over lubricating.
