Yeah you should have seen my face when they quoted me $4100 for a Jasper motor installed. I told them my Jeep wasn't even worth that much. I only WISH I could cut my losses and move on....unfortunately I owe around $5000 on my Jeep so I have to fix it. And when every penny counts....well...she gets the junkyard motor. Kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I would call this lesson learned the hard way
you owe ,meaning it is not paid for and it needed a new engine
maybe you should have:
put down more cash
saved up more cash
paid cash out right
I paid cash ,in a round about way, for my TJ (sold my F150 to pay for the Jeep after I bought it)
I know when you are young these situations SUCK
I was in 1
I had a '65 Ford Galaxy that I blew up the motor in
needed a ride to work to pay for new motor could not get to work with out a car ,parents gave me 1 "help" option and that was to finance a newer "reliable" car that I could get to work in
Took their help ,bought a 2 door Toyota Tercel, paid car note
saved to repair '65 ,started new job making more money ,a lot more money
sold '65 and bought '76 Firebird ,Smokie and the Bandit style with the 440
a year later sold that and the Tercel bought the F150 4X4.....
