NO 4HI(full time) only part time on my kj

when i put my 2004 liberty into 4x4 all i get is part time i get no full time light on dash im woundering if i even have full time 4 hi on my truck is there a way to know my shifter says. :?:

You have the command trac, meaning you have part time 4wd.

Get your build sheet if it states command trac transfer case you don't have full time 4wd if you have selec track you do. There is also a plate on the rear of the transfer that will have the type stamped on it NP 242 us selec track

I agree he most likely has the nv231j. but just because he has the 42rle doesn't mean it couldn't have come with the nv242.

PT is only for use on low friction surfaces, so that's a speed limit in itself. if you're using it in general the acceptable speed is going to be lower than 60mph. speed in itself does not damage a Part-Time system, friction of the surface its used on resulting in binding between the front and rear wheels, does. This is actually precisely the inherent negative tradeoff between a part-time system and a full-time system, FT is very forgiving of high friction surfaces, more like an AWD system but is not capable of transferring the same amount of torque when there are friction-less wheels as the PT system is
