Gettin colder by the day here in nj. Especially right on the ocean so i need to get this fixed asap. The jeep warms up quick and as long as im moving it blows nice and hot. But when i hit a stop light or traffic it blows cold almost outside temp air out. I was thinking system flush and new coolant? Any ideas?

Im under the hood daily just tinkering around when im bored and would have noticed coolant leaking. And probly smelled it too. Last i noticed my coolant level was fine. Are there any well known leaking points i should check out?

WATER PUMP

The impeller may be worn down, and at low RPM it wont circulate the coolant enough.

Theres is a posibility that the heater core may be plugged as well....check at the firewall...feel both hoses and see if they are basically the same temperature on both the in and out hoses...if this is the case then core is probably fine.

We have changed alot of water pumps on these engines....and we always change the thermostat at the same time.

If the wrong coolant has ever been used, then theres a real good chance it is your water pump; as the wrong coolant will quickly degrade your water pump impeller.

Make sure you use at least a 50/50 mix of HOAT type coolant (zerex G-05).

Mine did this last year... was a failing water pump. Check the weep hole on it to see if your losing any coolant. It may not be leaking yet, but it could be on it's way out.
