okay, i gave up for the night, going to pull the balancer and timing cover tomorrow.
anybody have any idea what could have happened? the tensioners LOOK like they are in good working order, but even if they failed, would that allow enough slack in the chain for it to somehow jump a tooth?
also, if both the cam sprockets are aligned at 12 oclcok, and the crank is off, wouldnt that indicate that the idler sprocket/ crank sprocket chain was where the timing jumped? is that even possible?
