I am planning a trip through Mojave desert in March, my concern is having enough gas in the Liberty and it seams most of the time I fill up with less that 200 miles on the tank.
I do drive conservatively I average 14-15 mpg, calculated at fill up, I was thinking an additional 5 gallon container.
Any experienced input with this trip in a Liberty would be appreciated.

For many years I have traveled the western states and Mexico, much in a limited fuel capacity motorcycle. Long ago I found that gas was available almost everywhere. And that I could preplan with Google maps as to where to refuel and how often. If you also have 5 gallons, you should have no problems, just plan ahead.

I keep reading about this trip, even stories of running on fumes at the end, the straight through shot is supposed to be 140 miles, in 4x4, with low tire pressures.
A 6-8 gallon can would be great, I have been looking around quite a bit, I have close to 2 months to prepare.
From what I understand this trip will be gallons per hour, not miles per gallon
