Does anyone have remote start with their KJ? If so what brand, what part number, and did you install it yourself?
I wanted to get a remote start, I think Sentry would have to be disabled first? I remember sentry allows you to start the jeep with "unauthorized key" but won't let you drive away, so maybe we don't need to disable sentry? Unless you go with mopar one. Would it replace the current FOB with a new one?

Also, in addition to remote start, it would be pretty cool to have remote rev!

Those are good prices you pulled up there. Mine from the dealer were going to cost $300 for all 3 part #. I had got a price from an independant shop and a price from the dealer. They were close, but the dealer said they would warranty it 3/36 and it is made for the Kj. I was leaning towards having the dealer do it because of that. I hate going to the dealer but I didn't feel comfortable doing it myself.

But I would rather have rock rails/diff guard so I never had it done. I can install the rock rails and diff guard myself. :D

Sentry Key shuts off the engine regardless of whether the vehicle is moving or not.

The only remote start that I know is compatible with SKIS (without defeating the system) is the Mopar Remote Start which costs $$$.

I was going to look into it more in the future, but I have always installed and liked DEI (Directed Electronics) products.

I've installed the bypass for GM passkey, I'd assume the Chrysler system is similar. I hope to put one in sometime, so I'll have to look into it then.

If it is, then there's a box you add that you can program your key's "resistance" into. When you use the remote starter, it sends out this resistance and the system thinks the key is in there. Otherwise, it functions as normal - I think if the remote starter unit isn't activated, the box doesn't work and therefore no resistance is read (i.e., someone trying to hotsire or break the ignition cylinder).

I got a quote for it installed $595 - $50 gas card.

OR:

Based on parts at wyckoff:
82208859AB*** Regular price: $103.00 - $86.95
822xxxxx Regular price: $199.00 - $169.95
Vehicle Wireless Control Module 56038675AT Regular price: $109.00 - $75.95

$411 or $332.85 with discount (parts only)

It is time to think if $595 is worth saving a few minutes warming the jeep OR keeping $595 and freezing the a$$ waiting for it to warm up. :)

FYI, I got heated seat elements for the wife's G6 for $160 shipped for both seats. I think I am going to be adding them to the Liberty sometime soon. My last car had a remote starter and I loved it, but I am not sure if i'll get one again or not.

I used to work at a small facility so I could start it from the front office. I also used to live with the parents, so the car was outside. I am now on the 12th floor and I have my own garage. I don't need it as much. Heated seats might work OK for now.

Mopar one is like 200 and you can install it yourself. doesnt replace the fob single key on the 05 (i think thats when that started) but comes with a nice little mopar fob/keychain.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
I have a AstroStart remote starter, very nice unit and you can use it if you have a security system(cost just a little more) and even can be used on manual vehicles.I installed it myself when I worked at the dealer,my dealer offered these type of remote starters(I even had to go to a class to learn how to install them).I got the kit for cost and since I have no security system so no extra's needed, cost me $100.I would not recommend self instalation, very hard since the destructions tell you what the wire is for but does not tell you where to hook it up to,needed to be a dealer to get access to there web site for vehicle specific install instruction.Very happy with it,had it for 5+ years and works awesome, also have a range of 1000yards,even locks/unlocks the doors, haven't used my OEM FOB's for years.

That's nice. However with stock security system, I don't want an aftermarket unit or someone fiddling with the whole setup to install aftermarket remote start. It seems like Mopar one will be a bit expensive.
