replacing timing cover gasket and seals

i will be replacing the timing cover gaskets and seals (currently leaking oil). i currently have 141,000 miles on the jeep. would it be worth it to replace the timing set while i have it out in the open? a full set seems to go for about $375 on rock auto.

I would since it is open already.

I would agree its open already might as well chalk it up as routine maintenance since your in there already

I'd hold out doing the timing chains since alot more is involved then just taking the timing cover off.

It takes less then 2 hours to do the timing cover but the chains call for for 7+ hours.

thanks for the input everyone, i'm going to hold off on the timing set for now. is there anything i should be on the lookout for while i have it open (besides the normal timing chain wear signs)?

Check the timing chain tensioners(loose chains to cams) is all I'd recommend since those are right there when the cover comes off.

thanks again...now i am just keeping my fingers crossed that i don't have to replace the oil pan or it's gasket.
