I've got an 05 liberty renegade with a command trac transfer case. I was wondering if anyone had any idea how difficult it would be to swap out for a selec trac transfer case. I live in an area that gets a lot of snow in the winter and I want to be able to have the full time 4wd as opposed to just part time. Would it be as simple as just swapping out my existing transfer case and flashing the computer to recognize the position of the shifter, or would I have to also replace my front and rear drive shafts?

I’ve done it it’s not difficult. As long as your new transfer case comes from the car with same transmission it’s an easy swap. No driveshaft replacement necessary. You don’t even have to flash the computer, you just won’t see the “full time” light.

That is awesome to hear. I guess my next step is figuring out what transmission I've got

There are only 3 options and one of them is manual, 4 speed auto is the most common on the v6.
Yeah, after looking in 99% sure that mine is the 42rle transmission. But of a weird one because it was initially designed as a fwd transaxle but they modified it for rwd
