There is only one made for the 42RLE,it made by TransGo.It's not much of a shift kit but more of a correction kit.About $20-$50 depending on where you buy it.

No, you need it for the 42rle. The kit does a bunch of different trannys including the 42re, but that link doesnt do the 42rle. I called trans-go and ordered it that way. I think it was $60 though.

Its not something I would recommend someone doing in their driveway if you dont know much about trannys.

I know enough to change simple things out, but if it involves tearing out gears or hard to access parts i guess im out. is this ****** put together and changed like older cars used to be? like a maveric i used to have, i put a kit in it by just changing out a gasket and putting in a different "plate" that had different pathways in it. pretty simple. is this one more involved? thanks...

It seems pretty simple after looking over the directions and the service manual for the liberty. You drop the valve body down and change out some springs for the most part.

I couldnt get the valve body down once taking all the bolts out though. I had never done ****** work and didnt know what was holding it, so I bolted it back up. I was pretty much hanging from the valve body and it only came down around 1inch.

thanks for the reply again. ill have to research it some more. even at that, i might just order me one and try it as long as i dont go to far with it. if i get stuck ill just do like you and put it back together. i will see if i can talk to a few mechanics also if i get stuck. thanks again..ill post more if i do this.

btw i just started as of today starting out with the shifter in 2nd and then manually shifting into 3rd once my speed hits 40 or so...that helps alot but sort of defeats the purpose of an automatic sometimes, haha....:D

i still wonder if i cant just have it programed to shift at 40 no matter what.

Ive been shifting mine manually for along time. Saves the ****** since it wont shift as much and saves me stress. I cant stand the way that thing shifts.

It acts like it must get in 4th and lock the torque as soon as it can. Then it realizes that it cannot get you up to speed so it downshifts since it upshifted to early. (attn)(censored)

I'm thinking about getting one of the shift kits soon so keep us updated. I'd like to hear more about it. I've been wondering how easy it is to install also.

Firmer and shorter shifts. Makes the ****** last alittle longer and makes it drive more like a Jeep instead of a minivan.
