Speaker Swap out with premium(infinty) system question

The two front door speakers are blown in my wifes 02KJ. I realized yesterday she has the infinity package on her KJ. So... To avoid any wire hacking I was going to mount the amps that are located in doors to the right (driver door) and left (passanger) of the speaker whole on the inside of the door. I checked for clearance for the window and everything is good. I'm gonna hold it up using high strength double sided tape since that bottom corner of the doors have a flat surface. Then i'll extend the speaker wires coming off the amps and attach them to the new speakers.
I did a test hook up yesterday and everything sounded good but I couldnt go through with the install since I need to get mounts to install the speakers in the doors b/c i didn't realized the whole's where oversized.

I was just wondering if anyone has done this before or if there is anything i should know before I continue.

FYI the head unit was replaced with an after factory one earlier this year.

What size speaker are you installing?

What size speaker are you installing?

6 1/2 inch speakers. I checked and re-checked. There the correct size for the door. The stock speakers have tabs on them that extend out beyond the speaker to attach it to the door. So I need to purchase adapters to fit the aftermarket speakers to the door. I've already found them but haven't purchase them yet. There actually on back order.

this is where i got mine.... installation is very straight forward. your plan will work just fine there are no curveballs to speak of just wire em up and enjoy!

I did this exact same thing last spring, and it worked out great. Once you get the stock speaker out, you'll separate it from the amp and rewire to the new speaker - it's all very straightforward.

That sounds good, check for heat, I don't know if they heat up enough to break loose of that double sided tape, I doubt it, but you can test it by running your radio for a few hours and just touching the amps.

It should hold up fine with the heat. I had a bottle of hand cleaner attached to the dash of my work truck with double sided tape and that went through constant heat cycles with the heater in the winter b/c it was mounted right next to the vents. It stayed there for a year and 1/2 until I had to pry it off the dash so I can it to my new work truck.

I got kenwoods for the kj. I've always had good luck with kenwoods.
