stuck on beltway

Need some help. My oil light came on in the morning. That afternoon while driving on the beltwa, I heard a popping sound and the car shut down on me. Now it won't start. Does anyone know what could be wron?

oil pump prolly ... could be a blown motor now.

Sorry to hear about your trouble.
Please post back the shops diagnosis. I assume you had it towed somewhere.
All I can say is, if my oil light ever comes on & stays on, I'm going to safely pull over & turn it off & call for tow.

What's wrong is you kept driving with the oil light being on. Chances are the engine quit because it seized due to lack of oil lubrication. A constant oil light is not something you check up on when you get around to it, it means pulling over now and shutting the engine down. Not trying to sound harsh, but them's the cause and effect of low, or no oil supply issues.

oil pump prolly quit ... no lubrication ... im affraid you have a seized motor bud .

It was oil on the end of the stick. It wasn't bone dry I put a quart in it last weeK.

Oil "at the end of the stick" puts you about 3 quarts low. That doesn't leave enough oil once the engine is running since the oil pump sucked out what's left before any can make it's way back down into the pan again. Your oil pump was sucking air.
