Our '06 Liberty has served us really well for years, but over the last two rainy Oregon winters, we've had water leaks on the passenger side and near the back liftgate. The front passenger side is the worst. The carpet gets saturated after a day or two of rain and has to be pulled up and dried out for a few days.
I've watched lots of videos showing common leaks and fixes. I ruled out the sunroof drains and condensate drain. I thought I had it pinned down to the cabin air vent under the windshield wiper cowl. I cleaned out debris, checked to be sure water could drain out, and thought it was all good. A week later I again found a bunch of water on the passenger side floorboard. It was parked facing uphill in our driveway.
I've seen where water can collect behind the kickplate on the passenger side, and ours does show some water streaks from there when we lift the carpet up, but it doesn't seem like enough to cause a pond. There's no sign of water drips from the blower housing or behind the dash.
Anyone else run into this and have suggestions? The only one I saw was to drill a weep hole under the bottom set of door hinges.
The back liftgate leak isn't as bad, but it looks like it needs new weatherstripping. Has anyone found an aftermarket supplier for that, or do I have to pay top dollar with Chrysler? Thanks for any help and insights!
