I don't see anything wrong with a guy bringing his unicycle, if he wants to. I never carry an extra jack.

I only intend to use my LIberty to pull my Honda Rancher 420 on a trailer. It has a winch, but I'm not sure that the Rancher could pull a car or Liberty even one foot. Just not enough power or capacity.

And now I have found that AAA will not authorize any tow on any off road trail. Only on approved roads. Some of the trails here are actually state or county roads, so that would work. But others say that it's up to the tow company how far off road they will go.

I usually go out alone, but I have some friends that could come out or lend me a truck and car carrier if needed. But there is something to be said about going with a friend or a group.

The only problem with that is that limits when you can go. They only go at certain times, and when I want to go, I just want to pack up and get out on the trials. Not wait around for someone else or some group.

If you don't have a winch a hi lift can be used to pull you out of a hole a couple feet at a time, but I think a come along would be better.

Yes, where space and payload is very limited why bring a tool that is so big, bulky, heavy and specific? I used to have a come along in my truck for that very scenario, however I quickly discovered that a redneck winch is so much quicker and and easier to use and takes up no space in my truck.

A unicycle is a great idea to go get help with; just think of the entertainment value of the learning curve as well.

Girth hitch a tow strap around a tire that's spinning freely and strap it to a tree, deflating it will help keep the strap or rope on the tire. When you give it gas the rope or strap will wind around the tire and will pull the vehicle out, or really badly wrap around the axle.

I used it one in a pinch and it worked flawlessly.

Rola cargo baskets are amazing, they come in two pieces and you can get an 18" extension or two if you want to run it the entire length of the roof. Rola 59504 in case anyone wants one. They also sell for around $130 shipped if you find it on sale every couple months.
