Tensioner - 90mm versus 76mm pulley?

Your rockauto statement makes sense.. is this the only place that would list the smaller tensioner? As I've also never seen an option.. and replaced it twice so far.
The lumping together models also makes sense, because when it came to trying to find an idler arm for my Volare through them awhile back, the site seemed convinced that I should be using the parts that go on a Valiant :emotions34:

This is curious. For an 02, carpart.com shows: 87.6" belt. autopartswarehouse: 86.5". Autozone: 87.5". Rockauto and O'Reilly Auto: both sized belts and pulleys.
The simple answer... since there is a choice, put back the same size pulley and belt you took off.

Exactly what I said.. seems Mopar sites are the only ones that say there's just one size I guess according to the orange one.
So I'd take his advice and go with the...only option lol

The 3.7/4.7 are not the only engine that uses that specific tensioner.

Hence the 2 pulley options.There is only 1 correct tensioner and belt for the 3.7.

The original part number for the 2002 and 2003 years was 53030958AB which had the 90mm pulley. If you go to buy a new tensioner from Jeep today they will sell you the later part number 53030958AG which has the 76mm pulley so I don't understand why you are indicating there is only 1 correct tensioner? The belt also changed from 53032037AF to 53032037AM although I can't find the detailed specifications on those (lengths) to see what changed.

Also, note that RockAuto's information on the Gates tensioners and belts is straight from Gates current 2016 catalog which shows the 90mm/76mm tensioners and 2 belt lengths for the 2002/2003 Jeep Liberty models (you indicated this was a RockAuto mistake).

But I'm going with Tom's advice that it shouldn't matter whether you use the original size or the smaller one used on the 2004 and newer models and currently supplied by Jeep as a replacement.

All mine have been identical and I change both every 30k.I have 2 extra sets and your welcome to drive to Colorado and see and yes they both have different part #'s,the 2 you posted but both are identical.

Updated parts #'s does not mean a different part,just means different supplier.

So you haven't said what size pulley you have 90mm or 76mm? You are indicating that both your AB and AG parts have 90mm pulleys? All the pictures that I've seen of AC and higher show the 76mm pulley.

Here are pictures of the 53030958AB that is installed on our 2002 which I suspect is the original tensioner and the 90mm pulley.
