Transmission swap

I have a 2005 3.7 auto with the 42RLE Transmission.
It needs replacing.
Will the Liberty KK series 42RLE transmission fit the earlier model.
Are any mods required to fit it.
I’m looking at buying a unit with the transfer case attached, but is that necessary?

No, the KK (and I think 06 and up) has the 42RLE with more electronics than the 05’s version. There is another wiring connector on it that yours doesn’t have.
