Upper Control Arm Bolt Hole

Hey guys!

Quick question - are the bolt holes that hold the rear UCA to the body of the Jeep supposed to move around? Or did I break something? I don't remember them moving when bolting in the new arm...but after taking out the new arm I noticed the "nutsert" type things move around in the mounting hole. I would imagine after tightening this down it'll stay nice and still...but just wondering if this is normal.

No when you torque them down everything should tight. Torque them down with full wieght of the vehicle on the suspension so you put the proper preload on the bushings.

I know that! Just wondering why the threads are moving around the hole when I put the bolt there while the UCA was out being repaired.

I don't even jack the Jeep up to take the UCA out/put it in.

If you didn't jack it up. How did you get the ball joint separated from the spindle

It's a captive nut,when the bolt is not tight it will move a bit.

Major pain to repair if you mess that nut up.

Good to know. It looks like it'll tighten down just fine. Was just slightly alarmed when it was wiggling around freely when I didn't notice it before. I always thought those bolt holes were in the body itself.

mine does the same but when tightened down its all good

find a friend with some grim reaper hands and fingers to help you re-install the bolt and hold the nut in place.

The nut doesn't need to be held as it doesn't spin. It just moves. It really won't be hard to reinstall...but I was just making sure I didn't break the nut free from the body.

Where do I find that nut? Mine just spins but I can’t find the nut anywhere
