Vibration after lift

Ever since my 2" lift and 245/70/16 Grabber AT2s I have a low pitched vibration between 50 and 55 mph when accelerating. I Cant seem to track it down. There isn't any play in the U joints so i would hate to replace them and have it not help. It's been aligned and balanced with no affect. It's not horribly intrusive so I guess i'm just asking if anyone else has this and if it's something I can just not worry about.

Did you remove the U-Joints to check them? If not still could be them. They don't feel loose when first going bad since they rust up and are almost solid. They feel tight to the touch so the reason to pull them

No, I haven't pulled them. If I pull them I'd just replace them while they were out whether they're good or not.

Maybe that answeres my own question, but I still not convinced its them.

Usually the 50mph vibe is the front right cv and intermediate shaft. Mine went away the first time I changed mine, but returned soon after.

I think it's just what most kjs do.

I dunno... I had mine for a good 50k never had an issue .. then I lifted it ...lol

I've experienced it with both lifted and unlifted. I did have an 03 before this one and it did it too.

Ok so I think I fixed it. I bought an alpine head unit and pretend it never happened.

Yep, sure can. If you run without the intermediate shaft in the diff I think you would want to stuff a rag in the axle tube so oil doesn't go everywhere. Others may chime in if I'm wrong. I know people have done it before.

Unless you are way off kilter no oil should come out, but make sure you plug the hole with a rag and tape it in there some way.
A buddy of mine ran his over a year with both Cvs out

My U-Joints had way under 40,000 when they went out
Had a vibration for a while and was trying to sort it out
finally determined what it was
My CV/ Intermediate shaft made a low rumble going 25-30 mile per hour when it started going out, never had a vibration from it

Yeah, I def wouldn't describe this as a rumble, and it certainly doesn't feel/sound like its coming from the front end. It feels almost like a harmonic, but the harder I push the gas the worse it is. Only between 50 - 55, and only when applying the gas.

I definitely notice a difference between when my gas tank is full and close to empty...must be the extra weight in the back...I might throw some sandbags back there and see what happens.

maybe thats why I don't have a rumble or noise, RL rear bumper with NATO can full of gas, C02 tank, about 60-70 lb of tools, 20-25 lbs of spare parts and other items "needed " items , but then still about 4.5 inches of lift

My god man, how do you fit all of that in the cargo area? And that's several hundred pounds of equipment, bumper, and parts you got there. How are those JBA 4 inchers holding up? Or did you already swap 'em out for something different?:icon_lol:

No still running the 4 inchers yet

Plus you have to be ready for anything, hate to be without tools :icon_razz:
