Well I had a nice jeep for a week...

Plenty of the XJ guys are missing rocker panels and those are an even weaker uniframe. I'd say it's very negligible.

The uniframe is inboard about 10" from the rockers. The outer rockers lend support to the floor that goes beyond the "frame" rail, which is also where the outer seats are connected and body weight is pushing down, as well as gives support when stepping on the door sill area. I'll bet if you rode in one of those rusted out XJ Heeps, you'll feel like you're taking your life into your own hands.

The floors in my 96 XJ are gone and it still seems very tight. Granted, the rocker panels are rust free as is the rest of the body.

Ok so Im checking out rockauto right now. They have a couple of options. Is it the outer rocker panel that im looking for? The sherman brand has one listed as rocker and one listed as outer rocker. Does anyone know which is the right one or which will work for what I need?

2005 JEEP LIBERTY 3.7L V6 Rocker Panel | RockAuto

The one they have listed for $136 CDN, the second from the bottom, thats the only one that looks right because it has the holes for the trim piece that goes there.

If I get that one its 153 shipped to me. Not bad actually.

Looks like a good bet. I hope the replacement goes smoothly for you. :favorites13:

Thank you!

I received the part a couple of days ago. seems like the right piece and decent quality. It came painted black which is kind of nice and unexpected. havent take it to any body shops for a quote yet. I am glad I decided to not just bolt a new rocker over top.

If this was a serious question then yes it is.

If it was just to stir the pot then lol well done

Seriously, it is good to know this is a solid product. I'll be repairing my driver's side rocker when I get my current engine issue solved. I plan on cutting the rusty one out and welding this in.

The question was a serious one, rusty rocker panel replacement is in my Liberty's future.
The hinted "undertone" part was meant to be shaken, not stirred. lol
