What brake pads do you use and why?

Im looking to purchase some new front and rear brake pads for my 05 Renny and wanted to see what you others have been using and what you thought of them? Im using stock rotors for now and want to get pads I know will do best. Curious as to what you lifted guys are using especially because I plan to do a lift in the near future as well.

So nobody changes their brake pads, or they just get whatever is cheapest at autozone I assume?

Currently have napas adaptive one pad front and rear. Bought them based on recommendations on here. Got napa premium rotors on the rear and just the regular napa rotors on the front. Ive got a warped rotor somewhere but cant figure out which one. Entire jeep shakes so im leaning to a rear rotor, which is the $$ ones. Pads are low dusting (fairly) and seem to grab good so im happy with the pads, just not the rotors.

So, being in Germany..

- ATE (D) : apparently only available for front axle (don't ask me why..)
- EBC Green Stuff (UK) : That's what I'm using now, they are OK to me.
- Ferodo : should be easily available (I guess).

Just my 0.02..

I went back to OEM/MOPAR pads and rotors, No dust and they last a long time, Stay away from Advance auto or autozone pads/rotors - Pure crap..

i use whatever the best available from napa is, pads and rotors, make sure you do a propper break in on your breaks aka bedding.

EBCs are low dust too.. but if You wanna stay with Mopar you might want to try Akebono Pro-Act.
AFAIK they probably are OEMs and so you'd spare some bucks while maintaining original quality.

Again IMHO.

I can still got US parts ordered and shipped I'm military and APO is considered US address, plus I've still got family back in the states too

This is what I did for the rear. Haven't done the front yet but will use the NAPA ones when I do.

In the auto repair field those are more commonlly known as "Thermosqueeks" as there known for making noise.

I can only speak on experience, but I have ran them on 4 vehicles and they are very quiet, little to no dust and they stop good.

I was searching this same question and reading about ceramic vs semi metallic pads... I often just scroll to see if you replied on a thread because you seem to know all the right answers... but I quickly realized that this was on a different website so I just read through a bit and found someone talking about slotted rotors and why they are not useful in normal vehicles... I have slotted rotors and have been wondering about this exact topic. The breakdown of information was exactly what I have been trying to find for a while... Turns out it was you on another jeep forum. I couldn't believe it. Anyways just thought i would return to this one and say thanks haha

When I had to replace my rear pads around Easter I got Mintex, a brand with an excellent reputation & at a very good price. Only lasted a couple of thousand miles before the inners cracked across the centre dust extraction groove. Next up Terrafirma (not a brand I associate with pads) from a very reputable Jeep specialist here (their house speciality is £100,000 JK's) - but they are Chinese; only time will tell but think I'll buy British next time.

In Germany, I'd get any reputable domestic brand (which most of those available here are) - or see what AutoDoc & Renegade Station have to offer.
