2006 Liberty Sport, a while ago trhe driver's window would not work, I read about it being motor or some clip at the bottom, but when I took off the door panel I saw that the metal cable was sliding out of the plastic tube that keeps it in place so I put a clamp type thing over the break and it worked for a while, then broke further down so I slit a piece of garden hose and clamped it over the breaks and it worked for a while but now has broken again further down and getting lower and hard to reach, is there a way to replace the whole thing or some other fix?

Yes. Probably replace the regulator, as the inner door mechanism that opens and closes the window is called. I'm seeing $105 online. Try your dealer, parts department, or online.

Unfortunately, no one I know has found an affordable replacement for that tubing. I suspect it is just like polyethylene flexible water line.

I did not have any luck finding an exact fit.

On any parts yard run , i take a booster pack and search the available kj donors for good regulators. I have a spare one of each, as I have 2 kj on the road

also - some inexpensive whole units on ebay - about 40 bucks. not oem - just fyi

thanks for the help, I had seen the term "regulator" and thought it was something solely for the electronics, so I will give this a try

I've purchased 2 regulators so far from Amazon at about $40 each. Work well. Super easy replacement. Motor a little weak it seems but 2 yrs now no issues. 2nd one I even put Moly on all contact points. Helped some.

In this case I bet this is the issue. Exact symptoms I had:

easy fix. If the motor stil works you can use it to get the cable back into the tube easily.

So the regulator is repairable??
It is to some extent. Depends on where the break is. The clip in the above post is what likely breaks. I just did 2 over the weekend. About 20 bucks amazon or ebay. There is also a metal clip that is used. If the 'tubing' is broken, i've never found anything that works decently to replace that.
