I have an 06 built in 05 and called them and they said it wasn't covered , but I could file a clam and see where it went.

I posted back on Jan. 4 about my 2007 KJ 6spd. Tonite I'm driving my wife's 2007 KJ auto, driver's side window goes pop! This is getting old fast, one a month. I know, do it right, do the Steiger replacement at a non-Chrysler body shop. 2 vehicles = 8 windows = major pain in the A$$! I actually like the KJ but this isn't a lot of fun. Don't know where we go from here.

I have had two windows fixed courtesy of this warranty extension, they even sent me paperwork in the mail saying if i have any other issues with the windows to just bring it in. all i did was called them wanting to know how much it would cost and they told me it was actually covered under this recall. they never said whether it was that clip that broke in there or not though.

Window Regulator

Well crack and whir, yep you guessed it, yet another window regulator bites the dust on my 07 CRD liberty.

Found this site though, seems like a fairly good option, the warranty stuff with DCJ here in OZ absolutely ***** on these products. Never seen so much standard stuff just fall apart in my life.

Anyway heres the link. http://www.steigerperformance.com/ and has a good write up about the issues as well.

Well, after EIGHT regulator failures Jeep finaly extended the warranty. That was all I needed to sue them under the California Lemon Law! After several weeks of wrangling (no pun intended) Chrysler agreed to by the Liberty back. I got the full purchase price, interest on the loan, taxes and registration cost for the five years I owned it. They also paid my lawyers fees. The little guy finally won one!
I don't know what I'll get to replace it. Except for the windows and stain seeking interrior it was a prety good car.

I just replaced my left rear window regulator with the Steiger Performance replacement. It was very easy to fix if you have basic tool skills. I highly recommend this, as the Steiger replacement is made of metal and any replacements you get from the dealer will still be plastic and will eventually fail again. I consider the Steiger part a permanent fix to this issue. I have in fact ordered the other three regulators to proactively solve this issue for me. You can download a .pdf of the replacement instructions to review and decide if this is something you want to do.

Just to add to the discussion, I have a 2006 KJ and had my third window regulator failure about three weeks ago (all rear windows). I have a service contract with a $100 deductible, but knowing that this issue should be covered, I called Chrysler Customer Care and argued with them about reimbursing the deductible. At first they were reluctant to reimburse anything, then they agreed to $50, and finally after repeating myself 3 times about this being a known issue, they agreed to a "special one-time reimbursement" of the $100 deductible. Just got my check last week.

I think if you call and argue that this is a known issue that is well documented, they will reimburse you, but you have to be calm and very firm in your stance that you believe they should be accepting this cost.

I'm wondering what they will do when my service contract expires next year...

The driver's rear window on mine just went yesterday. We have had ours for about 30K. Who knows if the original owner had anything replaced. Just called my local dealer and they said it's not covered, but that they will do it if I provide a $100 copay.

Im gonna do it and then try to get the $100 back from chrysler.

Hi folks, new to the forum. A sad story.

I've had a 2004 Liberty since new. Never a problem with the windows. Had a transfer case problem that was fixed last year. Had 147,381 miles on it and running good. Last Sinday during heavy rains, an idiot hit me in the back that send me into a spin. I left the roadway and rolled 3 times before coming to rest on the driver side. Firefighters had to cut the roof off to get my happy ass out of there. Jeep totaled ofcourse. Today I found a 2006 Liberty that I want to buy but......whats up with all this window regulator stuff. I spoke with the local Jeep dealer and they told me they would not cover any window issues. If I do buy this 2006 and the windows start to give me trouble, what are my options.

Thanks in advance.

Forgot to mention. Although I rolled three times and every single glass chattered, not a scratch on me. Some bruises and a bad headache but nothing broken. Jeep held like a tank.

Honestly, I would find an 04 or older. Thats just me though. If you get an 06 it looks like you should include the cost of the Steiger kit into the loan.

Don't have letter

I didnt get the letter from Chrysler. I purchased this vehicle used. Are they only sending the letter to owners who purchased the liberty brand new? Can I take it into the dealer with out the letter?

Same issue with my wife's 06 liberty.

Me: OK, I want you to tell me the parts that changed from my "2005 build" to the 2006 that makes my jeep not covered. Is my Jeep a 2005 or a 2006 model?

Them: Your jeep is a 2006 model but, we dont have specifics on the part numbers.

Me: Well, can you get them for me or point me in the direction to someone that can tell me

Them: Why don't you bring your jeep into the dealer and have them look at it to determine if it really is the window lift that broke. I am going to give you a claim number to give to them. But we first need to determine if thats what broke and not the regulator

I think they will replace mine if I take it in to get looked at, cause I am 99% sure thats what broke

I havent had a chance to take it in yet, but call and talk to them 1800-763-8422. Don't take no for an answer

Im not sure if I am going to take it in though. I'll prob just buy they $85 kit and do it myself.

Lift plate issue

My '07 Liberty is in the shop as I type. It has been there since last Thursday and is expected to be repaired tomorrow (Monday, 8/22). When I dropped it off this time, I was told that if I had ever had a lift plate replaced that they must replace the lift plate on all four doors. Apparently Chrysler came up with this recently, although I have never received any information regarding warranty extensions for the windows and I am the first owner.

This time, I was out of town for the weekend when the window fell completely into the door. My Liberty has been in the shop 14 times since I bought it in '07. They seem to keep it for a longer period of time each time I take it in for repairs. This time, it's been there for 5 days and has cost us $70 for a rental (if it is finished on Monday). Unfortunately, my experience with Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep has not been a positive one and I will not be purchasing another one in the future.

My KJ is not covered under the extended warranty - I called the dealer and they checked my VIN, miles and name.

What to do?

Both of my rear windows will not go up....I have them zip-tied up right now :(

Should I fix them myself and submit a claim to Chyrsler?
