That looks like the bunch of wires that goes through the firewall and controls random things inside the "cockpit". In short, I don't know either.

Those run to the flux capacitor actually.

(My friends actually had fun calling Autozone once and asking for a flux capacitor for an '82 Delorean. Funny thing is the person say they didnt have it but could order it rofl2.gif )
