What did you do to your jeep today?

Today, I finished the OME/Bilstein lift along with replacing all the steering components.

Here's almost everything I replaced.

It’s going to drive better than new now!

Found another job to do

I didn't have to work today, so I went to the nearby riverbank.There are many moguls and mounds that can only be conquered by Suzuki Jimny (Samurai).

Changed the axle oil seal, spider gear teeth are a bit chewed, have to order some new ones from America, till then they will have to run!

A gift from the previous owner....
Wondered why the handbrake wasn't very good. He has left the pins out!

wait until the backing plates fail.

Also, think I finally have the answer with my weirdness.
tried swapping out B2S1... didn't solve the problem.
finally started looking at a different set of O2 parameters (O2 Volts (0-1), instead of O2 Sensor Volts), and can now see that B2S2 is biased lean by about 0.2v compared to B2S1 (call it 0.7v average vs. 0.5v).

Now reviewing older data that recorded 02 Sensor Volts, I can see that it also is consistently ~.2v low (3.27v vs 3.05v). I thought that wasn't enough of a difference between the two for the system to care, but apparently it does.

Guess i'm changing out that sensor tomorrow.

Excellent work! How does it ride & drive now?

swapped B2S2 today. now the Autel is showing both downstream sensors playing roughly the same tune, no more offselt.
boy that sensor was soot covered!

checked today: no set or pending codes, all inspection monitors are set.

Washed, x2 - once to soak and get all the crispy road bugs off the grill, spray out the floormats, and remove most of the grass/mud/dirt from the undercarriage after some off road activities... and once for everything else.

@yellocoyote .. next time the bugs are caked on, try a fabric softener sheet after a quick rinse. It’s incredible how easily the bugs come off! It’s so good I can’t believe they don’t market that as a use for them.

In other news, the MK felt reflective today...

I pit oil in it. It’s in the back seat, but it’s in it. Oil change soon.

I changed our my sway bar bushings, front and rear shocks and shock absorbers, and also changed out my front and rear bump stops, easy peasy!

I had a couple of errands to run in South Jersey today. Since the shortest distance between two points is a straight line …



… I found myself in the Wharton State Forest.



At one point the dry sand was getting a little dicey. Around here they call it sugar sand, and it is easy to get stuck in this stuff. I was 0.2 miles from my next turn but too far in this stuff.



The next things I did was to air down to 22 lbs in the tires and turn around. Airing down helped the ride quality by an order of magnitude as well as in stability and traction.



A side road I passed a mile back was just right. The trees shaded the road just enough to keep the sand firm, unlike where the sun had baked it dry earlier.

Bonus points for you if you noticed that the left side of the road had been controlled burned by the NJ Forest Fire Service.

The right side had thick scrub oak taller than me. Lots of wildfire fuel.



The left side was neatly cleaned up by the flames. The fire was probably a few weeks ago as the huckleberry and blueberry were already resprouting. Next year the berries here will be epic.



Continuing on …





The creek water is black with tannins from the vegetation. Beautiful. Also acidic and nutrient poor. The mossy shore is a good place to find carnivorous plants.



As I emerged from the woods I stopped at a campground to air up my tires to 34 psi again. Wheeling is so much fun. Especially impromptu wheeling. I did play it pretty cautious as I had no way of recovering the Jeep by myself. Is a ATH winch bumper in my future??? I wish!!

Awesome!! Sounds like a good time.

Oh, and I do the same thing when I'm out on my own.

What is your weapon of choice for deflators?

A matchstick has always worked just fine.

Oh, & unless that's soft sand, I wouldn't even bother with 4WD - or a Jeep, for that matter.
