What did you do to your Jeep today? -Wrangler Edition-

Not today, but a recap of the last 14.

Still cleaning the filth out of the Jeep from the trip. Waiting for annual bonus to show up so I can replenish and replace stuff for the next trip: Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

Still stunned that I actually get better gas mileage with the roof rack fully loaded out. And yes, my hat is on backwards due to a hefty dose of highway hypnosis out in Dreamland.

Seven hours to wash, detail, and do post-excursion preventative maintenance. Four kilos of dirt and rock dust from the interior! Had to drop all the skids and hose out everything. Driveway looked like The Great Salt Desert afterwards. Thankfully only I can see the hail damage...a bit miffed as I sure do want a hood with functional vents, though likely going to have to fab my own replacements for the stupid stock fake vents....

Went to a Jeep meet in Red Oak, Iowa.
Sadly, I had the "overlander" section all to myself. But, I learned I like Iowa Jeepers a lot more than Nebraska Jeepers.

Took up fishing for the first time since 1989.

Pre-excursion check lists and load out today. Heading out for a bit of kayaking, camping and fishing. Might even do all three at the same time.

I’ve been whipped by those whiskers more times than I can count!

Was a good trip for just an overnighter. Took advantage of all the flooding and used the corn grid to get home.
Been struggling brain-wise due to the weather and the two straight weeks of explosions; but doing much, much better now.

Washed the exterior, still have a bunch of dry muck underneath to clear away. Interior is gonna be a day long job.

Mopar/Jeep/JesusChristler Annual Omaha Show! HUUUUUGE!

'Nother Jeep meet and a bit of trail riding at a local winery.

Roof rack and hard top damage. Spare tire roof mount destroyed.
Parking garage had an 8'2" warning sign which I cleared easily. Parking garage was actually 7'...

Have most of the damage touched up/buffed out. Have to loosen all bolts on roof rack and re-square it.
As it is heat indexes of 115F here, have to wait for temps to drop to fix the most serious damage to the fiberglass top and various A pillar dings.

Added an Evo Exhaust loop skid and evo engine/trans skid. getting ready for Moab!

1 year ownership/field season over/students returning party:
Oil change. Diffs and Transmission serviced. New plugs and wipers. Electrical system tested. Found the short (FINALLY!)in the driver door harness that has been messing with my locks. Registration paid (500$).
Replacement valve cover gaskets ordered. Tires rotatated. Undercarriage cleaned to white glove status. Rust busted and treated. Suspension torque checks. Alignment.

40k miles of Johnny Cash style hard use (...Been everywhere man...) in the last year. Three undescribed species discovered. 76 DNA sequences run. 137 nice sized fish caught. 5 awards at Jeep shows.
Hail, Wind, Tornadoes, Flooding, and massive temperature swings and KHAAAN! has taken it all like a champ.

Is registration the equivalent to our annual road tax? ~ the highway robbery we pay for the privilege of using our roads.

Similar. Our road tax and fees are set amounts, 45$total in Nebraska. The rest is sales tax, which you pay until the payments are done on the vehicle. The sales tax decreases a bit based on the age of the vehicle.

No sales tax here, just a ridiculous charge to use the poorly maintained roads £415 this year!
