I'm junking a 2002 Limited with the infinity speakers. Id like to save them for my '98 XJ.
What can I do to make this work? The speakers sounded great last I heard them before storage. Is there a way how to make them work independently?
Pretty sure there's a gremlin in the wiring causing static to all. Do I need the radio too?

I think you can just pull the speakers and go. I replaced mine as soon as I bought the jeep because they were rotten, everything else is stock. The dash speakers are full range connected in parallel with the front door ones.

Thanks guys. Do I need to run heavy gauge speaker wire considering the amps are on the back? Or is there a separate power wire.
I've yet to see one up close.
I'm not stupid, I'm teachable, I don't think it's a bad thing to admit that I don't know. So please don't Flame me! Thanks.

We don't do flames on here, we are all too old and worn to care!
I've not had mine in bits but I guess the amps are going to need 12v and an earth and a pre amplified input.
Before you get too involved check the speakers, you may find the foam surround is falling to bits, you can replace it but to be honest the cost and effort would probably make a set of new or second hand speakers a better bet.
My parts car is a Limited too, but I know the speakers in it need foam, they fart at high volume so I haven't bothered swapping them round.

Thanks for the info. Last I drove the car the speakers sounded great. Blasting to CCR & The Stones. Reminded me of the stuff the kids have now.
Things may have changed since it went to storage. I'll take a door panel off an have a look see.
RE: Flaming? glad that went by the wayside. I have better things to do than point out my own insecurities.

No special cabling. The power amp is connected to the speaker. It sits on top of the speaker and they are joined together to the door. I swapped the whole radio cd thing with a double din Android based pad that can run android auto and run natively. I actually kept the amps and hooked them up to new speakers and mounted it all to the door. 2003 KJ Limited 3.7. Have at it!!!

A reminder, I plan on using these in my '98 XJ. Stock harness, I assume that's why I asked about the wiring. The XJ came with an aftermarket switch panel in place of the radio. Gonna fix that! I'm tired of chasing my phone and Bluetooth speaker around the cabin. Especially off road.

It's bad enough on the road, I use my phone for sat nav, it always finishes up under the passenger seat!

The infinity system has amps on the front door speakers. If you want to use new amps, you will have to use new cabling from the battery to the amps. The cable gauge should be calculated according to the Amp draw of the amps. Also you will need cabling from the amps to the new speakers (this was PITA). I changed the radio, inserted 2 Focal amps and speakers on the front doors and tweeters on the columns on the edges of the windscreen, finally a small sub and a DSP. You will also need a fuse next to the battery (this is important) and a power distribution (with fuses) to power the amps.
The sound is great now! However, take into consideration that you will have to seal the doors inside and out acoustically, otherwise you will have everything on the door vibrating. The door was not engineered to handle more power than the OEM system...

I wish to use the infinity speakers with attached amps in an '98 XJ. They worked great last time I used them in my KJ.
So the question is do I use as much of the KJ harness as needed to power and send the audio the speakers?
It may be easier to make my own harness to fit whatever radio I put in the XJ. I do follow your instructions for wiring amps up to 12v.. Size matters for sure with 12v current draw, fused power distribution, etc.
The Kid that had the XJ before me used it as a submarine too many times, so I'm sure the OG speakers are toast. No high end sound system on the Build Sheet as well.
So a blank slate as far as a sound system. I really liked my Infinity system in the KJ. Hate to see it go to the junk yard.

Since you will use external amps you will need power cable from the battery (fused near the battery for max A according to both Amps max draw). Cable diameter is also depending on max Amperage AND length. There are charts for this (see below). The audio to the speakers will be sent from the external amps, therefore you will need new speaker cables. Finally you will need RCA cables from the radio Line output to the Amp's input.
If you plan to use the XJ in water, you will have to take that into consideration (amps location, power cables, etc.)
