Just put a set of these on my lady's Ford fusion hybrid. They seem to be a great tire so far and and are aggressive for a passenger car while still being extremely quiet. But I wouldn't consider using them on something that is used regularly offroad.
If I'm remembering correctly I don't think those lasted to well, more of a bandaid. The IRO is a little pricey, but you'll likely never have to mess with it again.
I followed the FSM to get it done. Went with all new bearings and crush sleeve. Had to kneel on the diff up on the work bench to get the crush sleeve to crush. 3 foot breaker bar. Picked up a 4 foot breaker bar to get the rear done as the torque is considerably higher. 500ish lbs rear compared...
My big buddy heater was a life saver
It feels a little heavier in the steering during tight turns such as parking lots, but really it's hardly noticeable. Performance is awesome offroad. I've got a video of where I get the front wheel off the ground on a steep climb and it keeps turning under...
My 05 has some small ones in the front footwell area. They're small and covered with sticky foam rubber. Mine dried out and allowed water in up from the tires on rainy days.
Some have used spacers to lower the front sub frame that the lca's, front diff, and engine all mount too. I considered it briefly but felt like it would become a messy snowball effect, so I opted for a more reasonable lift. Don't need it anymore top-heavy.
I've replaced the cv axles both ways, it just makes it so easy with everything out of the way. I remove the knuckle, brake, and even the shock. Gives me lots of room to work and none of that is complicated. When I replaced my steering rack bushings it was ridiculously easy, but that's because I...
Not necessary, but in my opinion much easier to get that stuff out of the way. I prefer the more time less fight method rather than workarounds and battles, it's not a speed sport for me.
I agree with derekj, if you want to have a spacer there it should be one peice to support the entire mount. Looks to me like the mount may also be bending, hard to tell from picture.
It was an update that happened in 2007, so just look for the pcv for that year or later. Let me know if you still don't find it and I'll see what I can do.
Pretty easy job really, just messy. There's videos online to be found. Only special tool is snap ring pliers, which can be obtained cheap at the Harbor Freight.
