Is this a Diesel or petrol 2006 KJ?
Reason I ask is that the 2006 CRD has a problem whereby there are possible shorts to chassis on the LHS where the main harness goes behind the battery...I believe this only applies to the CRD but I may be wrong!
Remove the bracket in that area and inspect...
Should be safe to drive to the Dealers...provided they will assist you with a KJ problem!
Jeep have announced that they are no longer supporting the KJ series worldwide! Here in South Africa a few months ago I had the Dealers replace the Timing Belt on my 2002 Export 2.5 CRD....no problems...
I have never disconnected the battery when removing the MAP Sensor.....as long as the ignition is Off then there is no issue! I still have the same MAP sensor on my 2002 Export 2.5 CRD....I have always been very careful when cleaning it!
I did have wiring issues from the MAP Sensor going to the...
The Multifunction switch ie. the switch that has the turn stalks, dipped beam etc. are known to fail often but could be a problem with the BCM.
If you replace the switch make sure it is the correct one for your vehicle as regards fog lamps!
At this stage I have poured Wynn's "Stop Leak" into the engine oil....claims to expand all rubber seals and stop leaks oil leaks!
Seems to be working well...I only have slight leaks at the moment which may improve with time! ;)
The difficulty with replacing the seals after procuring them would...
I have a LHD Export 2002 CRD 2.5 and the VIN is on the LHS font windscreen pillar....you should be able to see it clearly when looking back at the windscreen from the outside!;)
In South Africa the Jeep Dealers suddenly announced that they will no longer supply Parts or Service to any KJs with immediate effect!
This just as I was busy booking my 2002 CRD in for replacement of the Rear Crankshaft Oil Seals!
Nursing my CRD along now!
Thanks for the reply DeVillliers.....I have never seen a KK here in this small town of White River or Nelspruit either...I will look around for them!:D
I have tried USA Spares before....big mistake! They did not have what I wanted but kept bugging me with all sorts of rubbish items so I had to...
Mine turned 21 this month...best vehicle I have ever had!
Unfortunately I am going to scrap it soon:mad: the Dealers are no longer supplying spares or service for the KJs!
You guys in the USA have a lot of sites that can supply parts but none of them appear to ship to South Africa and I have...
I am conversing with the VM Motori group in the UK...just want them to be sure that we are talking about the 2.5L CRD with twin overhead Camshafts as I believe that they may have a 2.5L single overhead Camshaft motor for Marine use!
How are these parts actually replaced...motor removed or can...
Thanks for the replies!
At this stage I have made a temporary fix to stop the leak....I have strapped two rectangular plastic boxes under the leak...a small one and a larger one to catch any overflow.
Works OK but I have to take it easy over any bumps and need to keep an eye on the oil levels...
My 2002 Export 2.5L CRD keeps peeing oil out onto the ground....it definitely would appear to be a leaking Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal PN:05066756AA...this from the 2003 KJ documentation....this being a 2.8L I hope the PN is correct for my 2002 2.5 CRD!
A year ago I had the local Jeep Dealers...
The Multifunction Switch ie. the switch that has the turn signal stalk on it and the Light Stalk is known to give problems.
Try unplugging the Multifunction Switch when the problem is present and try to borrow an identical switch to try out.!
Go to www.colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ/
The manuals are shown except for year 2004/2007 so in your case download the 2005 manuals.
There are good Theory of Ops sections or you can go straight to the Wiring Section 8W
The 2005 KJs you should be able to pull codes by rapidly turning...
A fuse constantly blowing while the Jeep is moving, going over bumps etc. is usually a wire on that circuit intermittently shorting through to chassis or some other random wire. I had plenty of issue like this after my GF pranged my 2002 CRD into a tree.
You can slightly upgrade a fuse to a...
