Pull the plug and get a boroscope down there before you waste your time trying to replace the spring. See if the piston is damaged. Seems like you'd have to replace the valve too. That means pulling the head.
I wouldn't recommend pinching a line off. That may damage the line. You could disconnect the line from the caliper and plug it. Then do the rebuild and reattach. You'll have to bleed the caliper anyway.
Does your autel scanner plug into the obd2 or just go wireless? I have the simple one that is limited in what it can do. Can you enter the mode with existing id's and clone the last one that worked to the new one? Mine can't program but can clone.
Looks like you should think about swapping out that caliper soon. Doesn't look like it's leaking at all but probably not going to last too long. You probably could just change the piston and seal but easier to change the whole caliper.
No one uses mirrors around me. Just gun it and go. People haven't heard of impenetrability, or they're trying to collect more data. Maybe they think they're bosons.
My 02 did that lights out thing a couple times. I wound up replacing the battery. It was an old battery and these things are pretty sensitive to any voltage drop. Is it charging ok? I also had a blinking #6 misfire at one point but my coolant reservoir had dripped on it.
I'd definitely eliminate the possibility of the sticking caliper first. That could cause a hum that might be sensitive to turning. My next guess would be wheel bearing. Those are classic symptoms. That hum will continue to get worse of course, which will help the diagnosis. I've driven quite a...
Ain't that the truth! Mine are also both long gone. I keep looking for another KJ too, but things are expensive around me. Can't even find a decent project. Really pondering getting a KK. Never had one but always liked the look. Someday...
Like LibertyTC said gap should be around 0.04". That's what the sticker under the hood called for with the copper core plugs. I ran that gap too but some will say 0.035 to 0.044. Opinions vary and it may vary with different types of plugs.
Did you get a cylinder specific engine code? Should throw a P0302 for cylinder #2. What do the other plugs look like? Did you change all the coils and plugs?
The CEL is a check engine light. Should throw a misfire code if one of the valves isn't opening. If you kept it running it would probably be a flashing CEL (little engine icon near gages). That means a hard misfire which is bad for the catalytic converters.
These are actually hydraulic lash adjusters. If they don't pump up the rocker will be loose and can fall off. I had a #2 exhaust rocker fall off twice. Second time I replaced the lash adjuster and it never happened again. If the rocker wasn't damaged then just replace the lash adjuster. Pretty...
If the diesels are anything like the gassers, the sensor swells and is very difficult to pry out. So, be gentle when prying. I changed it on my 02 with the gas 3.7L but I had the motor apart to replace the crank.
