That's what I thought, and more along the lines of what i'm thinking could be the issue. I knew it had all gone electronic now (booooooooooooo)...just didn't know if it was more along the lines of a quadra-trac full time thang or not.
This Command Trac II 4x4 they use now.....is this still a part time transfer case? If it's more of an AWD, I would have to wonder if maybe it's binding.
Not familiar with them thar fancy schmancy new fangled gizmos...
Most of the newer Jeep tcases (say from the mid 90's and on) have a different design on the slip yoke where the output shaft is NOT enclosed in the case, thus allowing one to drive with no rear DS and not loose all the ATF in the case.
Would have to look again at the KJ, but this is what i've...
Look on the passenger side of the rear axle. There should be a sticker wrapped around the axle that will tell you the gear ratio (will read 3.73), the type of axle (will read Chrysler 8.25 or Corporate 8.25), and if it's got trac-lock in it.
Sounds like it's time for new pads.
Most brake pads have a wear indicator that's built into them....sometimes it can be a squeel, other times it's a high pitch metal on metal scraping sound (you've probably heard it on other vehicles). Basically the wear indicator is rubbing on the rotor...
On the stalling, have the dealer check for a TSB on this issue. I had a similar problem with my 03...it would stall sometimes when coming to a stop, but more so when changing from reverse to drive (didn't matter if I was sitting still or still creeping along in reverse). Brought it to the...
Jean and all the guys over there are some wonderful people to deal with...great prices, great products, and all around great service....it couldn't be any easier.
I know Jean came over here a couple of years ago and offered a discount code to us.....something like 5% off if I remember...
But if it were low enough to trip the low pressure cut off switch, then it wouldn't work at all vs. working for the first 10 minutes or so.
Sounds like the evap is either freezing, or the switch on the evap is bad and telling the system it's frozen when it's not like TJ said.
Also take into account things such as the exterior color and interior color....obviously the darker the more heat they're going to hold in. Also, if you have a base model that didn't come with any factory tint on the windows, that certainly won't help the greenhouse effect, and making the AC...
I doubt it's low.....not saying it's not possible, but i'd have a hard time believing it....unless it didn't get charged all the way from the factory.
Just have to realize that when it's almost 100 degrees, nobody's AC is going to work as good as normal....even more so if you live in a climate...
Yeah it most certainly can....it's actually happened to a couple of people on here in the past from getting a little too carried away playing in mud.
It is overheating at idle because the fan isn't coming on. What's wrong with the radiator?
How much mud is caked in your radiator?
My money is on the fact that mud is plastered in front of it, blocking air flow.....and it has also shorted out your radiator fan as well. Wouldn't be the first time i've seen it.
wow.....that weld is horrible......hate to be abrupt like that, but it is.
I'd definitely be complaining big time and refusing payment for that.....I really do see that causing problems down the road.
Check the u-joints on the driveshaft for play. Jack up the back wheels just enough to get them off the ground. There should be zero vertical play in the u-joints...if there is vertical play, replace them.
It might not hurt to do a few drain and refill's on the tranny, with a filter change on the last drain and refill....a very slow, but good tranny flush if you will.....with out the risk of having any crud that may be in there break loose in a normal tranny flush that a shop would do.
For what seems like the 5th time this has come up, fix the freakin exhaust already. Or keep driving it like it is and get your lift. When you destroy the engine, atleast you'll have a pretty lifted boat anchor to look at in the driveway.
