I've noticed it while driving everytime it went bad.
I feel it in the drivers seat.
The Jeep is NOT lifted. I gave up on the first driveshaft and bought a used driveshaft - it appears the rear joint has now gone out on that driveshaft. I will try driveshaftparts.com rear joint on that shaft
I was told the rear was going out because the front was to stiff. I replaced the whole shaft with a used unit.
Now it feels like the rear is going out on it also
Can anybody think of any reason why mine and several others driveshaftparts
Rear joints on the front drive shafts are not lasting even 5,000 miles?

Is there a difference because of the years?

I would take it off the vehicle. My fear with driving with a bad joint, would be taking out the seal and/or bearing on the transfer case or possibly doing even worse damage to the transfer case.
vibration can do bad things. These things turn all the time, even when not in 4 wheel drive.
Did...
I've gone through 2 is less than 10,000 miles and 7 months. One installed by me and the other by a certified mechanic.
I saw a post on another forum from another person that had the exact same experience.
Others have posted 70,000 miles and still going.
When the first one went bad...
I haven't made it 10,000 miles combined on the 2 I tried from driveshaftparts.com
I don't have the time and money for a 3rd. It'd be a little different if I was doing the work myself, but not being able right now, I am having to pay people and that won't fly.

Can anybody help me out with a GOOD fix for the rear joint on the front drive shaft?
I installed the first kit and a certified mechanic installed the 2nd kit from driveshaftparts.com . Both failed in short order.
I want a fix that will last 100,000 miles or...
The front right rotor was locking up, the rear upper control arm needs to be replaced - it is supposed to get here today.
The code has not come back.
Today we have a new issue. My wife reported that yesterday the 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD would not move if shifting from drive to reverse, But...
The ASD and PO700 happened one after the other.
The P0700 happened within 200 miles of the ASD - Auto Shut Down fuse blowing and being repaired. Was it just a coincidence? Or much more than that?
I was thinking maybe something got jerked lose or a plug got pulled on during the search and fix...
I have not checked the battery yet. It is on my to do list. Along with a couple other items.
I have also been planning to redo the battery cables and get rid of the cheesy OEM battery cable ends.
We just recently had the ASD fuse blow - that was a rubbed wire by the alternator bracket. I...
I had codes read at Autozone. That was all that was there.
Can I buy what I need to get all the codes?
Next step is to take it to a dealership and have codes read.
Bump. I am having the same issue. Has anybody else had this issue and got it resolved?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
This was my first result on a Google search. Wish cause and effect would have been posted.
Good to know.
I don't hesitate to question something If I don't know for sure. I've seen some pretty poor advice given out on forums before.
One poor kid ended up all but giving away his truck because somebody talked him into letting air into his IP to check his lift pump. He went from...
What is the torque spec for the half axle nut?
Torque Spec. Front Axle Hub Nut, 36mm or 35mm, 100 lbs-ft
That indicates to me that the bearing is similar in design to the GMT400 front bearings on 4x4's The half axle actually holds the bearing together, - Though I am not proof positive on the...
I did not think you could run with the front half axles removed?
I thought you needed The nut to hold the front bearings together. I think if you used a stub shaft to hold the front bearings together, you could run like that. But maybe I am thinking of our GMT400's
