I am looking into upgrading my lift and am struggling to find the information about the different parts that go into getting a lift around 3-5 inches as well as the parts that will improve articulation. I am trying to figure out what control arms(upper/lower) and cv axles people replace to get this lift, as well as what shocks/springs front and rear. I am also curious what other parts are needed for a lift this size, I've heard that you can geta 4.5 inch lift by replacing the parts, I just can't find any threads that list out the parts.

There is loads of information on here about lift kits, the independent front suspension limits the amount you can easily lift without major engineering work.

I know, I just can't find the threads that point out about the max you can do with aftermarket parts and such, I've heard it's around 4 or 5 but I can't find any concrete information about that

The forum search is not nearly as sharp as going ‘site:jeepkj.com max lift’

Search "frankenlift"
RRO has a 3 inch oift you could combo that with clevis spacers / drop, and stack extra isolators in the back...

But there are probably some control arm issues you will run into....

ok, I've figured out about most parts about what lifts and such, I'm just trying to figure out about what cv axles I need to swap too and what shocks and springs equal what lift, I know I could buy a premade lift kit, but I wan't to see what I can do by buying OME springs and combining with proper shocks to get as close to 4 inch lift as I can get

I've heard about larger/extendable cv axles, I just don't know where I can buy them and it doesn't help that all the lift kit fourms tend to be older so all the links are outdated and alot of the products aren't being made anymore

also I'm trying to figure out if the front and rear springs for the OME lift are the same or if you need 2 different ones for front/rear. also curious about how much lift that will get me

I've been looking and I can't find how much does an ome lift with bilstien shocks get you?

can someone please explain to me how you get a 4 inch lift? Everywhere I look I can't find how much lift you get from OME lift with bilstien shocks, and I can't figure out how they get a 4 inch lift

An OME/Bilstien setup will give two inches of lift. Unfortunately, no one is making parts for a higher lift anymore. JBA still sells Upper Control Arms for the front, and Iron Rock Off-road has a rear control arm kit with adapters that allow for extended travel. A KK front clevis is a bit longer than on the KJ, but bolts right up, some people use big conduit nuts on the clevis for a bit more lift. Part numbers for what I’ve installed are in my sig.

Dang that's sad, don't people put a strut spacer on top of the ome/bilstien lift to get an inch more? If so what do they put in the rear for that

They do/have … it’s the CV’s that become the weak point as well as the pinion angle in the rear. Even at just under 3.5” I went through CV’s too often. Also had to live with a droning at specific speeds from the rear despite replacing nearly everything back there.

In the rear you can just stack isolators for extra lift

That must be why I hear about upgrading to cv's from napa or something. Do you know the cause of the droning sound or if it is breaking stuff?

By lifting the rear you are changing the angle of the diff to driveshaft… some have no problems. I could never get it to go away. I don’t know that it actually breaks anything but it wasn’t happy. ;)

If you search the term “vibes” and use my username… you will find a half dozen threads about the issue.

I'm all for thinking a bit outside the box. However, I've stopped at about 3-3.5" lift. Cradle drop and taller knuckles would be a direction to explore.

If I truly lust for more - off in the future - I'll toss the body on a '79 Bronco chassis or similar.

I'm looking at it now and really my main priority is getting it off of the block lift and improving the articulation, It sounds like with current parts I'll probably be aiming for 3 to 3.5 inch lift which would still be an inch more than what I have right now

I'll have to look into that, have you done the aftermarket cv's and they are still breaking or are you still running stock?

Sadly she rusted to pieces in 2016… RIP

I think I went through 2 sets (not extended) and rebuilt one… in the ~5 yrs I actually used it off-road. Not horrible but I would have rather not .. lol.

That’s why on my next IFS lift I actually used my head instead of my heart. ;)
