so i was looking at the rear part of my jeep to try to locate a squeaking sound, and I noticed this hose hanging out...i don't know what is it or where it goes.

That really looks like the rear diff vent line, it shouldn't be attached like it is and the other end should be on the rear-end vent. looks like it was hanging down and someone decided to slid it onto the banjo bolt causing it to pressure up and **** off the rear diff vent. I definitely could be wrong but just had a similar issue on one of our Ram 2500 plow trucks, buddy seen it hanging down and zip tied it up unfortunately it kinked off the vent and blew an axle seal ... easy fix but .

Just looked again! it's the axle vent , the clip holding it up on the frame has let go, just reattach it to the frame making sure that it's not plugged up and allows the rear diff to vent out any pressure

ok ok i will attach it to the frame , does it need to be on an specific position or can i just put it to a side or it needs to be looking up or down?.

If you do any water fording, it would be advisable to extend that line (and any other vent lines) above the level you expect to be dunking your Jeep in.

Got it, I just moved the hose so it stays up and near the gas tank

I'm going to extend it cause it's raining season here , so this is what I did as a temporary solution. Is it OK?
