Make sure when replacing the bulb to wear gloves, making sure that the bulb does not come into contact with oils on your hands, in your car, or elsewhere, as this can create weak spots on the bulb that cause it to break very quickly. Higher quality bulbs sometimes even come with gloves for this very reason. Other than that I'm not sure

Vibration is a killer, try an LED and make sure the holder isn't loose.

FWIW, I was having the same problem (I thought), and found that the fastening hardware for my taillight assembly is missing. In the attached picture, I circled the pins that are supposed to snap into the back of the rear fender, but you can see that the holes that the two pins go into are missing any kind of reciprocal female receiver, so the light is not held firmly in the front. It is held in place with two screws on the side, accessed through the tailgate hinge. My theory is that the extra vibration is causing premature bulb/filament failure. I have yet to find a replacement for the pin mounting bracket.

At risk of hijacking this thread, let me throw my conundrum into the ring. I thought I needed to replace the taillight bulb, but when diagnosing the problem, realized that it was not the bulb.
As it turns out, each filament of the 3157 bulb works independently. The taillight comes on when the headlights are on. The brake light works when the headlights are off. BUT, when the headlights are on and the brakes are on, the bulb goes dark. Is this an electrical issue? How do I diagnose what's going on?

You need to check the ground connections for the tail light on that side and make sure its solid. Bad grounds can cause all sorts of problems, including voltage surges that can burn out filaments.
