Bump Stop Removal

Has anyone removed the stock bump stops from the front end. I want to get a set before i throw on my version of the fankie, but I cant figure out how to get off the originals.

They just pull out,nothing to them,amazing they stay on.

then how do i fix new longer ones to the front end if there is no screw or anything?

okay, so what bump stop is reccomeded to "pop" back into the same pocket? there teraflex bump stop made for libby's doesnt appear to have the long steel stud, so I am guessing its a direct replacement. Is there any other reccomendation?

There are 5 "fingers" that hold the bump stop in to the pocket. when you go to put it back in, a little lube such as spit, soap, or what ever help.....

Use a 3' 2x4 as a lever, using the tire as support. Then you'll push them in with ease.

Hmmm, I used a 2x4 but I must not have eaten my spinach that day Anyway like Digger said a little lube makes things much easier - it doesn't take a lot either, just a thin film of silicon or other lubricant will work.

I used a BIG pair of channel locks and just squeezed them back in, I used them to take the old ones out too.

I did my lift in the middle of winter. I found it much, much easier to get the new bump stops in by running them under hot water for about 5-10 minutes to soften the rubber up, then lubing the sockets on the jeep with some dish soap to make the new ones slip right in.

Yep, used dish soap, some wood on the tire to raise up the fulcrum a bit, and then used a pipe to pry it into place.

A 2x4 on edge probably would have worked better or at least as well.

funny cause I'm doing this right now. I about cursed it to hell and didn't get far at all. The terraflex bumpstops are a LOT harder than the stock ones. I'm going to try the shovel method with some soapy water I guess. I just got on here today to ask how the heck you get news ones back in. I thought about putting them in the oven too at about 120-150 or so. I'll try the soap and shovel tho first.

I put the terraflex bumpstops in the oven at 170 degrees and got them thoroughly heated. Then I dipped the end in soapy water put them up into the mount and pryed it in with a 3 foot 2x6 using the tire as a wedge point. popped right in.

Ok.... so maybe it's just me... but I can't get the stock bumpstops out.
I've pried and pulled and they have moved almost nothing at all. Is there a special trick to this? Or have mine just decided they want to give me a hard time today?

Just twist them down out or thin screw driver up in alongside and pop them out, very easy
