I have been looking at old threads and trying to answer this question. What other sizes of tire will fit on the stock rims of my liberty? I know there are diffrent sizes other than OEM that will fit. But when i get to the calculators, threads, stock, years etc. I get confused. I have an 06 limited 4wd no lift.

Stock Tire - 235/65R17

Section Width: 9.25 in 235 mm

Rim Diameter: 17 in 431.8 mm

Rim Width Range: 6.5 - 8.5 in

Overall Diameter: 29.02 in 737.10 mm

Sidewall Height: 6.01 in 152.65 mm

Radius: 14.51 in 368.55 mm

Circumference: 91.16 in 2315.4 mm

Revs per Mile: 716.7

Also on the standard rim. If you go to a aftermarket rim with a wider offset on a 245/65/17 with no lift it will catch in front when you turn full lock.

You can go up to a 245-65-17 size tire without a lift.
Depending on how much the suspension has sagged on your Liberty.
That tire would be 29.54 inches tall.

That's pretty much it! Until you lift.

That's a good point. But how can you determine how much your suspension has sagged since it left the factory. And then how much sag is acceptable before you reach the limit where the tires begin to rub?

any wheel besides stock width and backspacing will get you in to trouble when unlifted
measure from center of wheel to bottom of flare, new stock height is 19 inches in front, I've had em come in at 17.5 before, most at 80-90,000 miles are down to 18 or in that range which is sagged a lot really

Great! :disgust: It appears the in it's mid life at 97k my pour Jeeps suspension has ED.
Sadly he is only 18 +/- in heigth.
So where does that put me in accepting the bigger tire? Do I need a minimal lift to get up to *****, or is it parts of the suspension I need to replace?

Yeah but see I'd like to do some off road stuff. say like "green and blues" (trails) not rocks and deep ass ruts etc. Just stuff to make me happy. I think at 245 it should be okay... right?

I run 245-65-17 and GY Wrangler Silent Armor shoes.
Before the lift they rubbed slightly on a full turn and in reverse in turn.
After the lift they rubbed worse until.....

I installed the 1.25 inch spidertrax wheel spacers.

With OME lift & JBA 4.5 A-Arms tires were too close to arm and inner fender well.

No tire rub with spacers. Bonus extra width adds lots in handling and lack of body roll.

So it looks better as well.
The spidertrax were the missing piece of the lifted handling puzzle.
It would also probably work with a non lifted Jeep to get tires out away from fender well.

In the beginning i had 245/70/16 on the standard rims. No lift and no spacers. It only rubbed against the stabiliser bar on full lock in reverse.
