2004 liberty. My right rear dropped by itself overnight. I shopped around and decided on Rockauto.com. The regulator I picked claims it has a limited lifetime warranty. The picture on the website showed what I think is a new style? What arrived is exactly what I removed and has a long history of failure.
I couldn't find any way to contact Rockauto and ask if there had been a mistake.
I went ahead and installed out of frustration!
Would someone know if there actually is a new style using the same part number

Thank you Chris

Front regulator:
Has a wide nylon clip

Rear Regulator:
Has a narrow nylon clip to hold the window.

I can’t make my picture paste over on the ipad.

Maybe you can post the part number from Rockauto?

Posting pictures of what Rockauto showed, which is not what I got. The one I received is identical to the one I removed
The label shows the part number

So, what you took off is the OEM style. The 660545 picture is a new version - what is important is the white nylon clip. It should look the same (more or less) as to what you took off.

When these break one of a few things happen :

1 - motor locks up - rare
2 - cable binds in the track and will rip itself out of the white nylon clip. The unit APPEARS to be unfixable, but I found the clips on Amazon or ebay and have a complete set (or 3) in my toolbox.
3 - white tubing that carries the cable cracks in one or more places. I think this stuff is like PVC waterline, but have never found an exact size that will repair the tubing. I have tried with some success to go a larger diameter, cut a few inches on bigger tube (3-4) and split it lengthwise. Then it'll slip over the break. model glue, pvc cement, hose clamps, etc. have been used with some success until I can find another unit.
4 - the window will sometimes 'pop' out of the clip - (this is the sudden fall symptom on mine) The stud pops out and the glass flies down into the door. There should have been a 'hairpin' style metal clip that goes thru the white clip and holds the stud in place.

Good repairs!

Thank you for the reply. So I'm very disappointed in Rockauto for sending a product not the same as what's pictured. The part number on the label was also stamped into the track of the new part. So I guess you get whatever they have in stock under that part number. I chose the one pictured because it says it has a lifetime limited warranty. I'm assuming that would just be empty words should the new one fail.
This was a fairly easy repair with the exception of trying to get the post on the window through that white plastic piece. I finally grabbed some channel locks and squeezed it all together. I think that the metal clipped seated in place. Probably would have been a 30-40 minute job if not for that hassle

Future reference - pull the hair pin. Slip the stud into the plastic and then slide the hairpin back in place.

Yes, that's what I did. I think the stud was slightly bent up. I've since read that I should have straighted that. Thank you.

So - if it works a few times and then binds at the top, it may pop off again. Not a bad regulator, but now you know where and what to look for.

I think you're better off with a regulator from Steiger Performance, myself. I've had all four windows go as well as their plastic replacements. This is a known issue which I think was a recall at one point, though I won't swear to that. Used Steiger on all four windows in 2010. No problems since.
