Its mounted using a C shaped bracket attached to the receiver hitch, and front bumper cross member. You can see one screw where its attached to one side of the bumper.

The install in itself wasn't to hard, it just took a few hours of thinking and trying different ideas.

I buy / sell/ trade parts all of the time, got 5 Moabs for a great price with 2 really good MTRs, one brand new spare also a MTR that was never on the ground, sold some of the tires since I didn't want the MTRs, and well it worked out that way.

I want to see how you put the "c" channel onto the reciever draw bars and frame cross member to bolt the bumper on... since I may be hot on your heels with this one... but I am figuring on making a dual tube front bumper with a hoop

I dont have any pics of the actual install, but i can describe how i did it.

A jeeps not your until you drill a hole in it? How bout cutting on it with a dremel tool

okay so the I used a dremel and expanded the holes that are covered by the tow hook caps to accommodate a 2 in receiver. Then just to the right of that slit in the picture, i drilled a hole and attached the C bracket (not actually a C, more of like a have square) using grade 8 nuts and bolts. I attached my receivers, drilled a hole through them, and attached the second side of the bracket to them. I cut a hole in the TJ bumper for the reciever to fit- and drilled a hole in the bumper and bracket.

Heres a diagram i made up real quick- not very detailed but youll get the idea.

Okay, that makes good sense, thanks... any idea if it is possible to get those recievers in a length that will stick out maybe another 1 1/2 inches to 2 inches? or was there room to set them up to stick out that far?

I went to u haul and bought 2 in drop receivers and they fit fine. I have the TJ bumper on, and the receivers stick out past those far enough to attach D rings to them

This is a fantastic little simple mod that is great if you tow a short trailer, or have to back up around kids toys or tree stumps etc... (you can see the edge of my short little trailer in it, which helps with backing it up straight.

You can get this little static cling wide angle spot window for $8-$12 at a walmart or similar stores... I sugest cleaning the window really well, then use a drop of dish soap to a spray bottle of water (like if you were doing tint film), spray the window, place the cling, and use your driver's license to squeegy the bubbles out (don't use the rubber window tint film squeegy, this cling is too rough for it)

the angle makes the trailer look like a lawn trailer, the box is about 6' long, and 4' wide

That's a great idea boebr1 I'm always struggling to back up my utility trailer but can that lens easily come off of the window later without damaging the defroster?

Along the same theme of trailer management; I've removed the headrests from my back seats to improve the view out my rear window. I seldom have passengers back there and the mod doesn't cost a cent. Heck maybe I should take the entire back seat out.


One last thing, boebr1 that's not a trailer that's a wheelbarrow with tailights

Raised my spare tire 2 inches and leaned the top of the tire out about an inch (so the rear wilndow would close). Used junk and paint from my shop - turned the 4 spacers on my lathe. Took about an hour to cut, drill and weld the parts and overnight (in my wife's greenhouse) for the paint to dry. 5 minutes to reassemble - hardest part was getting the blasted tirecover back on straight! Sorry, I never thought to take pictures. Now I have 4 inches of clearance between the tire and my ball so I can hook up my trailer with ease.
