Now let me preface this by saying i usually do oil changes myself. but......i had a groupon for oil change/tire rotation and yada yada. I needed a tire rotation, and an oil change. i figured for 35 dollars its a no brainer...go to jiffy lube. the oil and filter cost that much at pep boys!

BIG F'N mistake.

first the set off the alarm, no biggie, it happens, especially since i forgot to say hey there is an alarm (though you think the KEY FOB would have been a clue). then they kept setting it off, Annoying but still no biggie), then as they drove it out of the showroom, the alarm goes off again. I was like wait, that shouldn't be happening. so i figured they must never had disarmed it once they triggered it. STILL NO BIGGIE. incompetent yes, but no biggie.

HERE IS THE BIG PROBLEM. GROUPON never mentioned that with the oil change/tire/rotation etc, you also get....wait for it... a SCRATCH from the drivers side headlight to just past the handle on the rear drivers side door.

And of course they said ... that was there when you brought it in. NO IT WAS NOT!. i just detailed her a couple of days ago, and it rained yesterday....with that being said, how could i WIPE MY FINGER ACROSS THE SCRATCH AND GET FRESH POWDERY RESIDUE from the scratch. no sir, that's f'n fresh. My guess is when they went to rotate tiers, they dragged the hose nozzle for the air gun or maybe the gun itself across her.

The store manager was cool, as pissed off as i was, he WAS trying to resolve the situation by filling out the paperwork, however The a$$hole District manager happened to be there and he was a total d!ck . When i asked /demanded for the corporate number, his reply was LOOK IT UP. I replied, do you know the corporate number and he replied again Yep, Look it up. WTF! are you kidding me.

then to top it off and show thier incompetence the dumba$$es never turned off my headlights, so when they pulled it out of the bay, and all this went down, my Jeep was sitting there with the lights on. which killed the batter. just f'n morons!

They had to call the cops on me i was so fuming, i wanted to break this guys jaw. When the cop showed up, she was cool i told her exactly what happened. and told her had he just given me the number, i would have been out of there, she wouldn't have had to been dispatched, and we wouldn't be wasting a cops time who could be better used elsewhere. she agreed and never even acknowledge the a$$hole.

Went only 1 time and they stripped the drain plug on my wifes new car and didn't say anything, when I got home I noticed it was leaking and found the rubber plug.

Keep us posted.

Wow, Just another reason I have never taken my vehicle's to these places and do my own stuff (Asides from repairs I cannot do or know how to do), I used to work at one of those service places as a teenager which actually was very good and took care of the vehicles that were in our care but we always heard the horror stories from customers that will not go anywhere else, Once place drained the engine oil, Put on a new filter and put the drain plug back in and no oil and started up the guys vehicle up causing severe engine damage, Another shop left a razor blade under the hood which ended up being hit by the fan and sent hurling into the oil filter losing oil everywhere!

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
While I don't have anything good to say about jiffylube I will say that anyone that brings in there vehicle with a aftermarket alarm and does not disarm it themselves before having someone else work on it is a total idiot. Not everyone has alarms and have no idea how to properly disarm them. When I get stuck with one like that I just let the alarm go off,the rest of the shop gets mad but I don't care since the owner should have disarmed that damn thing before stepping foot in the building. My hearing is so bad anyways half the time I don't even hear the alarm going off.

Ya even though I feel you pain Troy, I was forgetful on occasion regarding turning my sedan courtesy switch/fob alarm off.
I often just caught it before they got the car, to prevent such occurrences. I did have a written warning at battery.
When a car is booked into the shop, the customer should be advised to please turn off any after market alarms.
That may help ...a bit anyways.

In the winter, and when I'm lazy, I'll take mine to a oil change shop in town... but it's not a chain store. They've been in the area forever, and they're really reliable.

***** that happened.

Man this is a bad chain of events. Just more reason I do the work myself. Also why I plan my oil changes so that I do one before the snow flies then again in the spring.

Updated: Jiffy Lube corporate or should i say Lucor, did take fault for the damages, and paid ($1,400 in damages) to have it fixed, as well as a rental car for me. just got her out of the body shop yesterday.

what i learned.....Groupon isnt always that much of a savings lol should have just done my own oil change like i always do, and did the tire rotation myself. more work but less headache

I've always respected your opinion in the past, even hoped to have your own personal reply to problems I've had before. But this statement you can shove up your ass. I am no idiot. and the same could be said for any service mechanic that deals with hundreds if not thousands of cars, that sees a aftermarket alarm key fob, that doesn't disable it is an idiot as well. The vehicle has been in other shops, dealers, and inspection stations over the years that i have had her, and no one else has had a problem of repeatedly setting it off.

bringing your vehicle with an aftermarket alarm to a shop without disarming it is like bringing your gun to a guns tore loaded and in battery and saying it is the gun store employee's responsibility to unload and clear your weapon...it is your responsibility to disarm the alarm, not the service tech's.

coming on here and ******** about an oil change shop rather than accepting the fact that you tried to save money on something so cheap to begin with and it bit you in the ass is just plain childish.

Vehicle was brought into an oil change place, and the paint gets gouged.
Why he was called an idiot here for not disarming his alarm is beyond me, unless there's an unwritten code where oil change "mechanics" automatically gouge your car's paint if an alarm is left on.
Not sure that I'd equate a car alarm to fooling with a loaded gun either, since that's not likely to put a fatal hole in your head. lol
I've learned to read and reread whatever I put here before posting, so as not to leave any ammunition for someone else while they read between the lines. I don't always succeed.

sure the consequences are different but either way it is your responsibility, it isn't the mechanics responsibility to know how to disarm every type/make of aftermarket alarm, just like it is not every gun shop employee's responsibility to know how to operate every single gun made. it is your responsibility to know how to use your stuff. and what if the mechanic didn't know you have an aftermarket alarm, not all remote starters are an alarm system as well. I would suck to hit your head on something because of an alarm that went off unexpectedly...I never called him an idiot for it, just stated that he should have deactivated the alarm and instead of ranting about how pissed he is, just learn the lesson: you get what you pay for.

we would have a mob with torches and pitch forks if it was a guy who bought a RRO lift and a-arms and was here complaining when it is common knowledge that RRO is no good, just like jiffy lube (for the most part it is a joke)

well I went to the dealer for the airbag wiring and hitch recall, and my paint was scruffed up.
Don't do free jeep wash. Lesson learned.

I dunno. People just aren't careful with other peoples stuff any more.
Hell, some don't give a crap about their own things, let alone someone else's.

^ I do the LaserWash if I'm not doing it myself. Absolutely "no-touch" and all your parts are still there when you drive off. They seem to do a much better job on the undercarriage, too.
