I put an after markt head unit in not too long ago, and blew a fuse. I forgot which one it was, but my key didnt work, lights wouldnt turn on, and a whole bunch of electrical guzmos didnt work either. I over looked the big plastic casing for (I forgot which fuse) and sure enough it was that 1.

if you are being serious, it's because the fuses are rated to blow before they overheat the wiring they are connected to. by installing a 30 amp fuse in a slot rated for a 15 amp fuse, you could potentially draw more current through the wiring than it is rated for, which could overheat it, melting the insulation, and possibly causing an electrical short, which could then cause your jeep to catch on fire.

Wow, so you really dont care that your Jeep could possibly catch fire and burn to the ground.

Do you ever haul around anyone that matters?

fwiw...i installed an EVIC in my jeep, and I am not having an issue with it blowing any fuses. i can check which fuse i connected it to, but you may have something connected wrong, or it could be you are just over-drawing the specific tap you chose to connect your lead to.

Or the fuse could of been on the edge of going and that just made it go...or if the jeep burns to the ground ill just buy another one!

if it was on the verge of going, you should not be continually blowing fuses.

just trying to help out....i've put in wrong sized fuses as a temp fix for something i was pretty certain was ok to use, but just wanted to get by until i could get the right size fuse in, but i would never put a 30 in a 15 slot and leave it there.

If you have a fuse rated for Xamps, and it blows, then you have an electrical problem somewhere on that circuit. Now if you put a larger fuse in that circuit and it holds, then you are literally playing with fire. Putting a larger fuse in place is not a fix, just a band-aid solution.

Just sayin'........

mag, this is a bad idea. It's not like fuses are big or heavy.
Get the proper ones.

Insurance companies do LOOOOOOOONG inspections on vehicles that have fires that start in the electrical system.
If you have full coverage insurance on your Jeep, and it burns to the ground, they will inspect it, and if they faulty parts/wiring installed by the owner, they WILL deny your claim.

But, hey, subscribed for potential lulz.
