Hola,
Purchased an 02 Sport to cruise around Puerto Rico, many roads are not accessible to cars.
Love the 02 Liberty - even though it is 2wd.
Besides minor issues that I've fixed, two have ticked me off pretty good.
First, 2wd in sand does not work. Got stuck on the beach for 6 hours digging and pushing with my girlfriend. Solution - bought TruTrac and will install shortly. Will update on how well it works in sand, but sounds good from what I have read and should help.
Second, the timing chain has the rattle at around 800rpm. It goes away at higher and lower rpm. The best answer I have come up with from doing research is the hydraulic tensioner does not have enough oil pressure to quiet the chain at this low rpm. Will try this - lower viscosity oil/or can of marvel mystery oil to clean oil passages. I have been using 10-40 which is probably too high. And wouldn't be surprised if passages have been gunked up.
Any thoughts? Thanks

Thanks for the welcome

Thanks for the welcome, great forum. Here is a picture of me getting rescued from getting stuck in the sand. Will go back once the Truetrac is installed and repost the picture, minus the towing truck.

Tires and Differential

Hola,
My tires are all-terrain, but should have gone down in tire pressure for sand, I know.
Much more importantly...
I installed the true-track - unreal difference.
With the same exact set-up I've pulled into deep sand and tried to get stuck, but the true-track works. Without it I would have been stuck within one second... now, it powers up and the Jeep pulls through. Will post some pictures.

So for anyone thinking about installing True-Track on a 2 wheel drive, I would definitely recommend it. If I deflated the tires, I think I could drive across the beaches no problem, but will test soon and post pictures.

Having a blast in Puerto Rico with my Liberty.
